U.S. a Laughing Stock
The longer it takes us to subdue Iraq the more we are turning into a laughing stock in the eyes of the world. Everyone knew there was no real provocation and that Iraq was not a threat to mighty America. But the snickers are starting to get louder as it becomes apparent that our powerful military is ill-suited for the task of restoring order in a subjugated country. The peoples of the world are laughing at us because, frankly, we look foolish.

Patrick Cockburn blurts out the truth when he observes the extent of our humiliation:

There is no doubt that the US has failed to win the war. Much of Iraq is a bloody no man's land. The army has not been able to secure the short highway to the airport, though it is the most important road in the country, linking the US civil headquarters in the Green Zone with its military HQ at Camp Victory ...

1. They're laughing, but with our military looking more lke the school yard
bully whose bark is worse then his bite, we are also looking weak. Very weak. This might come back to haunt us someday.

3. We tried shock and awe on Iraq
It was impressive on a third world country with a 5th rate military. Now we're stuck in no man's land and there is no way to go, while our kids keep dying and Bush keeps mumbling this s--- about spreading democracy and freedom.

How many of our people would have put our military in harm's way to spread democracy and freedom to a Muslim country who wasn't the least bit interested in the concept? But Bushco did it anyway. Dead kids but his energy friends have never enjoyed a higher profit.

7. The psychopath stands at a podium/desk thing. He thinks
it makes him look tough and intimidating. I think it makes him look crazy. I would love for that bastard to try and intimidate me. I would punch the asshole in the nose if he started that smart ass shit on me.

5. I wish people here at DU
would wake up and see this is by design. This was the plan from the get go. It still is the plan. Don't believe me ...just take a look at P2OG, 6 million a year pentagon program to antagonize the Muslim world. This mirrors the British plan from almost a hundred years ago to Balkanize Iraq, and install bases...they never plan to leave...It's going so well, even people here are falling for it.

Do you really believe the US army can't secure a highway??? I mean do you really really believe that????

It's not secure because the top doesn't want it secure....They want these safe zones and they want mayhem everywhere else....It is by design. Wake up...

9. Even the Roman Empire crumbled
And we could take a few lessons from the ancient Romans in how to subjugate an occupied country. But they'd be sadly wrong. The Roman Empire failed, just as we are doomed to fail in Iraq. An occupation army can never withstand a determined resistance.
