Only two weeks to the beginning of hurricane season and....
...the national weather service is predicting a higher than average storm season with nine (9) major hurricanes predicted for the Atlantic and Caribbean and possibly up to five (5) making landfall in the south or eastern coasts of the U.S. including Florida.:scared:

Don't they predict a bad season every year?

5. No, actually they don't.
El Nino is used to predict patterns and generally the weather services are pretty good about "busy" v. "quiet" hurricane season predictions. It also tends to go in thirty year patterns. 1960-1990 was relatively quiet. We'll probably be getting more years of "busy" predictions than "quiet" for the next fifteen years or so.

2. *sigh*
I already added bottle water and extra batteries to my shopping list for Saturday. Here we go again just four weeks after I finally got my screening repaired.

3. I'm so excited about living in Florida!
To tell you the truth, hurricanes are nothing compared to the inflated insurance we have to pay.

Homeowners, flood, and voting insurance , I don't how we do it!

Good post whistle.

-Fergus

P.S. - I get to live in Kathrine Harris country. Yippie, lucky me!!

4. I think I heard that 7 out of the last 9 years were worse than normal
and the the other two years were el nino years.

7. They're always wrong, except when they are right by accident.
You can start an office pool, and their guesses would be as good as the NWS. I sometimes think they just guess, just to give themselves some purpose.
