Guvs Warner(D-VA) Ehrlich(R-MD) Blanco(D-LA) and Riley(R-AL) all agree ...
.... that the Beltway Snipers, currently convicted and sentenced in the Commonwealth of Virginia - one to death and the other to a certain life in prison - will now be tried in Maryland. Trials in Alabama and Louisiana remain distinct possibilities.

Am I wrong to ask 'why bother'?

These trials will cost the citizens of these states (one of which is mine) millions we can ill afford.

Will the additional trials have any actual meaning? Will the inevitable death sentence(s) have any real meaning?

Is there some soul cleansing or 'closure' that will come from these trials?

There's virtually no doubt that these two scum committed all the murders alleged. There's virtually no doubt that the adult will be cooked. There's virtually no doubt the younger one will never see the light of day.

Were one of my loved ones a victim, I can say I would be satisfied. I would have had time to grieve. I would have been blessed by the separation time gives me to the former immediacy of these awful crimes. I would not wish to relive it all again.

And again.

And again.

I would far prefer that the money to be spent on these multiple media circuses be spent on the least of our society. Surely there's a worthy young child who, without help, will never get to college. Surely there's a destitute family with no health insurance that have a child loved more than life who will die without the money to get him a life saving surgery. Surely there are thousands of elderly living on fixed incomes who, next winter, will need to choose between heating their homes and eating healthy meals.

Surely we can do better things with the money that will be spent.

Surely there is.

1. I Agree
I'm just glad Alabama doesn't have to deal with that sorry sack of shit.

I don't want him to even step foot in my state again. :grr:
