"He said he was told: "your basic marching orders are to link up with the Northern Alliance and get their cooperation militarily and they will take on the Taliban.

"'When we break the Taliban, your job is to capture bin Laden, kill him and bring his head back in a box full of dry ice.'""

_____

The chimperor and his minions actually gave orders to behead Bin Laden, pack his head in dry ice and ship it back to the US?????

What the FUCK?

Randi's been playing tapes of the interview when Russert, sounding as deadly serious as is possible asks "where were you supposed to find dry ice in Afghanistan?"

3. I partially saw that interview.
i was sleep deprived from Saturday night, but got the distinct impression that the guy thought the whole operation was excessively lame and incompetent and that he was happy to wash his hands of it.

Dry ice in Afghanistan indeed. They've clearly got a handle on their culture. Sheesh.

Such uncultured bozos. It's incomprehensible.

19. Yeah but FDR really screwed Germany in WWII.
Too bad he didn't focus on getting Hitler's head in dry ice - think of how that would look at the Smithsonian!

Larry King Live did a show last week on sociopaths. According to the experts - 4% of the population are sociopaths. I can think of one very famous sociopath traveling though Europe right now! Next thing you know he will impale his enemies around the white house like Vlad the Impaler. (Dracula) http://www.royalty.nu/Europe/Balkan/Dracula.html

29. I can only think
the experts mean psychopaths, the most extreme sociopaths; because there would be a heck of a lot more than 4 in 100 common or garden sociopaths in any country, I reckon.

15. Interesting.
From the Yahoo article:

It was the first time in 30 years with the CIA he had been ordered to set out to kill a target rather than try to bring them in alive, Schroen told NPR's Morning Edition program.

He said he told Black, '"Sir, those are the clearest orders I have ever received, I can certainly make pikes out in the field but I don't know what I'll do about dry ice to bring the head back but we will manage something."

A week after the September 11 attacks, President George W. Bush told reporters he wanted Osama bin Laden and recalled Wild West posters that demanded suspects "dead or alive."

But the suspected terror mastermind was never caught and Schroen told NPR that CIA operatives found it hard to get close enough to strike bin Laden, partly due to his ability to move quickly around the country.

17. Has anyone suggested that this might be CYA by the CIA?
As in Bin Laden is a CIA creation (real or not, 9/11 mastermind or not), lets pass this crazy story so people will believe anything we say in the future no matter how bizarre. Everything must be taken with a huge grain of salt these days. I don't know what to believe any more.

One of the first things I thought was "oh is this supposed to make bush look all bad-ass to the crazies in this country?"

I mean, let's remember OBL is STILL at large. Real effective at "getting him" eh?

I think the bush administration needs him as a boogeyman more than they need him captured.

20. The severed head on dry ice isn't nearly as shocking as...
Edited on Mon May-09-05 03:34 PM by TwoSparkles
...our government's ludicrous, reckless, disturbing strategy.

Look at this sentence! I'm fuming...
"your basic marching orders are to link up with the Northern Alliance and get their cooperation militarily and they will take on the Taliban.

Remember what was going on during this time? Junior was spewing "Dead or Alive" and throwing out threats like a cowboy on acid. American were terrified. We expected additional attacks. This administration projected an aggressive, no-nonsense strategy to capture and kill Bin Laden, a man who orchestrated the murder of thousands of Americans on our soil. Remember how Junior's polls soared to 85 percent? We were so terrified, we NEEDED to believe in something--and we believed Junior was vociferously hunting down Bin Laden.

The problem with the above sentence is that we RELIED ON THE NORTHERN ALLIANCE TO TAKE DOWN THE TALIBAN!!! BIN LADEN WAS WITH THE TALIBAN!!

WHY DID AMERICAN OUTSOURCE THE CAPTURE OF BIN LADEN????

Why in the hell did we rely on war lords and put our troops in the background? We'll commit 150,000 soldiers to fight and die for Iraqi freedom--but we rely on rouge warlords to capture a man who changed the course of United States' history?

THIS IS SO HOARKED UP!!!

24. Come to think of it...I don't believe this dry ice fairy tale....
Now that I think more about it, this "dry ice" crap is just that--a big steamy pile of frog dung.

The administration has been losing lately. Iraq is on fire. Bin Laden is still out there. We haven't captured any big-name terrorists in Iraq--despite 150,000 soldiers in the country. Recent polls show that a majority of Americans think Iraq was a mistake.

Almost every day, American soldiers die Iraq. The US looks as if it's been outwitted. We screwed up capturing Bin Laden. We haven't captured Al Sadr. They're killing our soldiers.

And don't forget that they touted al Libbi, the latest captured Al Queda member, as #3. The latest articles reveal that he was a middle man, not a #3".

This administration is swinging its manhood around--and talking tough with scintillating stories of heads on dry ice. Oh please!

As usual, they talk the talk--but can't walk the walk to save their lives.

Besides, if that had happened, how could Osama produce that wonderful election-eve "vote for bush" commercial?

A not so subtle hint that an ex-cia OBL knows what's going on? It sure does make it seem so.
