Open Letter to DU Community

Hello All,

I would like to make this an open letter to anyone to frequents or just passes by the DU boards.

I discovered this site during the election season of last year and decided to just read and be entertained by smart, and humorous columns by writers such as the Plaid Adder, and Auntie Pinko. I enjoyed the site that I returned every day to catch new things.

I then discovered that DU had a message board, and began to read, and soon discovered that it's readers are much like it's mentors, smart with a sense of humor. I like this, a mashed community of intellects,poets,songwriters,activists, etc all rolled into one good smoke-worthy joint.

Just recently, Andy had come down with Cancer. Though I wasn't a poster on the boards, I donated to his cause and wish him the best of luck. I also want to congratulate you guys on doing the best thing we people can do for each other:::HELP:::. It lets me know that people are still out there with hearts, and there is some care left in the world. You guys pulled in thousands to help a guy most of you never have met, yet your actions could be the pivotal moment in saving this guy's life.

Overall, I look forward to expressing myself in DU, and I look forward to helping for the cause of a peaceful minded America. Remember, we here at DU are a team, with a cause. Lets keep working guys!

I got involved through Will Pitt posting a letter I had written to Senators for the electoral college vote certification and asking Senators to object. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent on the DU message boards and still have not had time to visit all the features of this awesome site.

And you are right there are tons of people who care all over our country it is the oppositions objective to make us all feel isolated, powerless and defeated and we are having any of it.

This place has been like a savior for me. I'm so glad I found it and I don't know what I would have done with out it after last November. One hint, when you feel like there's nothing you can do anymore and you get frustrated, go to the lounge. You'll feel a lot better. The lounge is good for that. Again, welcome aboard. to remind us of how lucky we are to have this community here.:yourock: It has touched a lot of lives, and a great example is Andy, as you have mentioned. But first, he has contributed to DU and our democracy with his tireless work on election fraud through voting machines.

The fundraising effort is truly amazing, especially if we remember that Dems are not the well-endowed-with-monetary-wealth party in the first place. And that's impressive!
