Here is the response from my "representative" in the house.
Dear Friend:

Thank you for contacting my office. I appreciate you taking the time
to
share your thoughts with me on issues important to you.

I am very excited to serve as your representative in Congress and eager
to
be of service to you.

I look forward to reviewing your concern. My staff and I will research
the issue which you have shared so that I may better respond with my
thoughts. I will soon be sending you a reply via the United States
Postal
Service.

Your thoughts and ideas on these issues are extremely important to me.
Thank you again for your comments.

Sincerely,

Jeff Fortenberry
Member of Congress

The funny thing is I don't know which of my letters, emails, phone calls or faxes he is replying to.

Except I don't remember ever being told that he and his staff were going to research the issue I shared. You must be special!

5. Well since all the "issues" I have contacted him about
are major legislation, I think it is about freaking time they research it.

7. Isn't it sad that we send these
clowns to DC who have no interest in "representing" the people in their district? The idiot who "represents" me won't even meet with Democrats! No wonder people don't vote.

11. There was a whole thread one day
from a DUer who had tried to get an appointment to speak with the guy's staff about Social Security. He showed up at one of the guy's district offices, was met with open hostility and disdain, and was called a troublemaker and basically thrown out. This rabid rightwinger, Elton Gallegly, votes the strict repuke party line and has no interest in listening to any opposing points of view. Gets re-elected every time with 65% of the vote. No incentive, certainly, to consider any opposing points of view.

12. It seems to me that that is an ethical violation.
But that doesn't doesn't go on on Capitol Hill. :spray:

13. It would be impossible to
meaningfully use the words "ethics" and "Elton Gallegly" in the same sentence. He has none.

19. I wasn't referring to you specifically, of course.
I sure as hell had nothing to do with electing the idiot whose own personal kingdom is my district, either. Trouble is we have to live with the consequences of the decision made by those who consistently vote against their own self-interest or don't vote at all.

14. Here's what I got back from Charles Taylor (R-NC)
I wrote him about IMPEACHING BUSH over the UK Leaked Memo. Here was the response...............................

Thank you for contacting me to express your opinion regarding President Bush's proposed reform of the Social Security program. I appreciate hearing from you on this important issue.

Given the large number of baby boomers that will be retiring in the near future, Social Security benefits are projected to exceed receipts under current law beginning in 2018. At that point, Social Security will need to start using the trust funds to pay benefits, and by 2042, Social Security will not be able guarantee all of its benefits payments.

Therefore, in order for Social Security to be available to younger members of the workforce as well as future workers, there needs to be an overall reform to the Social Security system. During the 109th Congress, my colleagues in the House of Representatives and I will be reviewing a number of proposals to improve and protect the Social Security system. Let me assure you, however, that I will not support any reform plan that adversely affects the benefits for current retirees or near-retirees.

One proposal to reform Social Security is currently being drafted by President Bush and his administration. Under his proposal, younger workers will be allowed to open personal investment accounts as an option to save payroll taxes. These personal accounts would be voluntary, and those who do not wish to open such accounts would be able to continue to draw benefits from Social Security as they do under the current system. Contrary to reports by partisan politicians and self-interested advocacy groups, there are no plans to privatize the Social Security system, nor would such a plan pass the Republican-controlled Congress. Please be assured, however, that I will bear your thoughts in mind as Congress works with President Bush to craft any Social Security reform legislation.

Again, thank you for contacting me regarding this issue. Additionally, if you would like to receive my weekly email update, Capitol Connection, please visit www.house.gov/charlestaylor/email.htm, and I will be glad to send it to you. With warmest regards, I am,
....................

He is such a f*cking loser of a Representative.

20. You have as much "representation" as me, which
is none. That stupid letter doesn't even address the issue you wrote about because either nobody in Taylor's office bothered to read what you wrote, or they read it and said, "This person's a Dem. Shitcan this and send out one of those form SS letters in reply." Shows their complete and utter disdain for you and your opinions.
