THREE CHEERS for GEORGE GALLOWAY!!!
With most results in, Blair was heading for a majority of between 60 and 80 seats in the 646-seat House of Commons, sharply down from 161 last time.

Projections suggested Labour only secured 36 percent of the vote, an all-time low for a winning party, with many voters accusing Blair of misleading them by hyping intelligence on Iraq's weapons to justify going to war.

Blair lost one loyal MP, Labour's Oona King, solely to the Iraq factor. She was beaten by George Galloway, a radical expelled from the Labour party for attacking Blair over the war, in an east London seat with a large Muslim population.

"All the people you killed, all the lies you told, have come back to haunt you," Galloway told Blair in his victory speech.

3. How so...
I am rather shocked to see the guest blogger on talkingpointsmemo calling him pro-saddam. From what I know about Galloway that would be somewhat overstating the case....

Galloway is grumpy as hell.. but given how he was treated it is far from surprising.

5. Can you provide some links...
I am genuinely interested. When he was so obviously framed with those documents that the telegraph claimed to discover in Baghdad I couldn't help but feel he was a victim of cointelpro.

7. He was totally cleared on that pile of BS.
Edited on Fri May-06-05 06:06 AM by LynnTheDem
Not that MURDOCH will ever bother to retract all the BS he spread re Galloway; and the "slaughterhouse in Iraq" that in fact was a staging area for Iraq to receive remains from Iran for soldiers killed in the Iran-Iraq war; remember that big spread Murdoch did? And of course all the BS "WMD" crap and the "al Qaeda sleeps with Hussein" etc etc etc.

Corrupt? Vile? MURDOCH to a T.

13. I suspect we can find a
chink in any leader's armor, even the gallowglass of de Gallaidhe. I think that the OP is correct to tip the hat to Mr. Galloway.

16. He had an eye (and a whole lot more) for the ladies.
Although in the days of the knights, that would a plus, not a chink in the armor. :D

18. I know quite a bit
about the Galloways. They are of the House of Bruce. The first president of Harvard was of the clanna. I know their strengths and faults all too well. (grin)

15. That's pretty denigrating of all those who did vote for him.
But you despise the man, that's very clear, lol!

I don't. I like and respect him.

And on this, we will have to just agree to disagree. :)

10. Probably because of this:
Saddam and me

He's Saddam Hussein's sole friend in Westminster, believes the collapse of the Soviet Union was a tragedy and thinks his party has been hijacked. Doesn't it ever get lonely being George Galloway?

In recent years, the Labour MP for Glasgow Kelvin has become Britain's champion of the Arab world. Some regard him as a thorn in the government's side, others dismiss him as a laughing stock, discredited as an anti-war voice by his readiness to cosy up to Saddam. As you read this, he should have arrived in Iraq with a handful of journalists on his latest mission to convince the world that Iraqis are human beings too.
