If Dems win the House, do they go for impeachment or....
Edited on Thu May-05-05 03:19 PM by kentuck
do they try to work together in a bi-partisan way? Guess which path the Democrats would follow? Perhaps it would get the attention of the Right-Wingers if they did push for impeachment. On what charges? Lying and conspiracy, for starters.

1. At the least, they should make Republicans explain why they shouldnt.
But Bush will have a new war by then.

4. No compromise
Not if, but WHEN, the Democrats win we should stick to our principles. No compromise. Scorched earth politics. We must prevail for the sake of our country and freedom.

5. I wouldn't stop with impeachment
I'd probably add public caning and banishment. Or if they like, community service feeding the homeless and hungry and helping to clean the environment.

Most of those self-centered barracudas would almost certainly choose caning and banishment first.

6. Or let him stand trial in the World Court....
That would be fair. Judged by a jury of his peers....

16. Oh yes
They'll be MUCH harsher on him. Yes yes yes!!! I like that. We should be talking about impeaching him now and not in 2006.

7. The Democrats would never impeach Bush.
Our side just doesn't have the stomach (guts?) for a tough fight. It'd be like Iran/Contra. They had Reagan up to his eyeballs in subversion. But, what did our Dems do? They made a secret side deal with the Repugs that they wouldn't go after Reagan.

It'll be the same with Bush. Hardball politics to the Dems is calling the other side mean.

8. Gore Vidal made the case for impeachment
in one of his "pamphlets", as he calls them. I forget which book it was, but he states that in the State of the Union address prior to the war on Iraq, we have a case for impeachment.

I seem to recall that he wrote of how the speech was carefully written to avoid such a scenario, but that the authors ultimately failed to protect against such an occurence.

We would have to push our representatives to move on impeachment, I don't fully believe they would bother otherwise.

The thought of it sickens me, but it is far more sickening to allow the administration to get away with all that they have.

It seems to me we would also have to remove Cheney and perhaps Hastert as well, but I wonder if there is a case for that.

10. We aren't gonna win the house until some sort of anti-gerrymandering
law or legistation is signed into law.

12. Won't happen.
Let's face it, guys. The only thing that will change this Repuglican regime is MONEY. When the Pugs' corporate funds dry up, then they'll wake up and smell the kool-aid. Until then, they're fat dogs fouling the societal manger and we have either to lie in the crap or sweep it out. Unless and until we have the financial clout to fight the bastards, we're not going to be heard or heeded.

Of course, the only way to make the funds dry up is NOT TO GIVE THE REPUBLICAN DONORS YOUR MONEY. PERIOD. I pay more and drive farther just because I hate Walmart. If I know the owner of a gas station is a Pug, I go across the street to the other station, even if I lose a buck on my gas. I don't even let the teenage daughters of Repuglicans babysit my kids. I plan carefully so that I can ship via the postal service as much possible. I don't eat fast food. I attend a liberal church. Hell, I don't even buy donuts from the Baptist kids on the street corner raising money for their youth trips. Nope Nope Nope. Won't do it.

And - I take part in every single damn market survey I can, and I tell those people exactly what I think in one-syllable (and occasionally four-letter) words.

There's over 100 million of us out there. Yes, we are a spectrum of values and beliefs. I don't always know exactly what I want, and I don't have firm stands on every single issue. However, I know what I DON'T want. And the rest of us do, too.

So - if you want to stop these guys, stop giving them access to your hard-earned cash at every possible opportunity. Businesses aren't stupid. If they know their policies piss people off and cost them market share and revenue, they'll shape their asses up. And once they do that, we will finally break the Pugs' backs, and we won't need to impeach anyone. All we'll need to do is declassify everything that's been done in Washington since 2001. Once that's done, it'll be a matter for the federal courts, not the Congress. And we'll have to fund a major expansion to Leavenworth. Shoot, I'd pay a buck a day to know that Cheney and Bush were behind bars. I'd pay FIVE a day if they stuck Bush in a cell with a 6'5", 250-pound serial sex offender.

15. I thought you wanted to PUNISH him. He would love a 250-pounder!
All jokes aside, I agree with you. I never shop at Wal-Mart.
I cancelled ALL my credit cards.
I only buy from liberal companies.
MONEY is EL SUPREMO in this country and the world for that matter.
Money talks and bullshit walks.
Wish it weren't that way.
But you gotta learn to speak their language.

13. I was wondering about gerrymandering...
Perhaps Dr. Dean is working on some strategy we can use to undo gerrymandering.

I don't know, I guess I'd have to see it for myself.
