Looks like Olberman is #1 on MSRNC now
http://mediabistro.com/tvnewser/

MSNBC: Hardball: 272,000 / Olbermann: 396,000 / Abrams 9pm: 192,000 / Scarborough: 286,000

Tweety looks to be a distant third.

2. Then like Phil Donahue before him...
He will soon be cancelled. After all, MSNBC loves cancelling its No. 1 shows.

21. Phil Donahue is one of my favorites & will always be Number One.
Olbermann has too much class and moxie for MSNBC. Tis easy to predict that MSNBC will soon fire him! I hope not.

4. Isn't there a group of chicks that dedicate a thread to him from DU?
That's probably what did it. But I like Olbermann too.

8. If you're speaking of the KOEB (Keith Olbermann Estrogen Brigade), yes
we do. We live-blog his nightly shows (along with much laughter and the famous :loveya: s and now have our own group here:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=315
Everyone is welcome there regardless of estrogen level, and drinks for newbies are on the house. :toast:

Much as we KOEBers would like to take some credit for Keith's rise in the ratings, it's all earned by Keith and his staff. He's pretty much the last major media news journalist who actually tells the truth, for example being the only one to cover the investigations and other responses to the stolen 2004 election. That he does it with style, humor and compassion is no hardship for his listeners. But it's the honesty and the willingness to cover "controversial" (read: displeasing to the ruling junta) stories other networks and others on his own network avoid, stories questioning the Bush administration's policies, that we value above all.

5. After that show that him and Milbank
put on last night over the G/G 196 visits to the WH, I probably will never watch Keith again

What a total and absolute whitewash, move along here, nothing to see, haha ha, Milbank laughing...its not unusual...blah blah, sometimes your pass does NOT click on the way out....blah blah, happens all the time...yuck yuck

Pathetic simply pathetic

9. It was Milbank who tried to whitewash it. Keith was game, and I'm betting
Edited on Wed Apr-27-05 03:01 PM by Nothing Without Hope
he was ordered by his bosses to import Milbank. He still put the story on just a day after it broke on the internet, and he forced Milbank to concede that the number of day passes was unprecedented. I think Keith was squashed on this one and I suspect someone from the WH called when the saw the newsletter announcement that the topic would be covered.

edited to add: I suggest emailing Keith with this complaint about the bias of the G/G coverage in last night's show. As if the Secret Service would really be so cavalier! And as if it didn't matter that G/G had no journalistic experience, was a propaganda mouthpiece for the Bush administration, was involved in high security clearance issues like the Plame outing and knowing in advance about the Iraq invasion, and was advertising a military "escort" service at the beginning of the time. And he was supposed to be a VOLUNTEER through many of these visits? Suuuuuurrre. I agree, Milbank was allowed to whitewash this story last night and we should complain. But give Keith some ammunition along with your input by emailing him about this: [email protected]

6. Well. It was good while it lasted. : (
Remember Phil Donahue? #1 rated show on MSNBC and was canceled. I LOVED that show. Phil took no one's crap. Will Keith be going too? Man, I sure hope not. It can't make his corporate owners very happy that, ONCE AGAIN, a LIBERAL leads in the ratings.

7. The only way to make the events of today pallatable...
is with a touch of humor and sarcasm. The Daily Show, KO are a testament to that. The screaming, pseudo-serious talking heads are going nowhere. THIS is the future of News. The archaic sort will be cleaning out their lockers soon.

13. Kind of like being the smartest kid on the short bus
MSNBC's highest rated show doesn't even come close to the lowest rated show on Fox or CNN.

22. Doesn't that reflect the fact that MSNBC is in far fewer
cable markets than Faux and RNCnn ? I know I had to upgrade our basic cable to get MSNBC.

I know that CNN is in more markets that Fox (although Fox get more viewers).
