Jerry Springer has never seen Dubya holding hands with an Arab.
This morning, I heard Springer going on about George II holding the hand of Saudi prince Abdullah. Evidently, Jerry has never seen photos that have been posted on DU over the years of Dubya holding hands with various members of the Saudi family. It's a cultural thing.

I really never cared whose hand he held, but I do care about the price of oil. And my guess is that their discussions concerned how they could screw us more than they're currently screwing us to the profit of the Saudi and Bush families, not to mention Cheney's profits via Halliburton.

Wake up, Mr. Springer. It's not their holding hands that matters. It's their having us by the short hairs that pisses me off. That, and the fact that most of the American public just doesn't seem to understand who it is that's fucking us.

1. I was surprised at how big a deal it seems to have been.
I saw at least 2 network news features chuckling about it and then very reassuringly telling me that it is very common in the Middle East, etc. I heard that several of the late night talk show hosts pounced upon it, too.

Just goes to show how much farther television reaches than a book like House of Bush, House of Saud which came out a couple years ago and features several similar pictures. I say good. It's old news to us at DU, but if it's one more thing to make Joe Couch Potato sit up and go WTF?, it's all for the good.

4. Yeah, but you mentioned that the Networks are defending it
As normal, Standard-Operating-Procedure.

So, maybe Joe Couch Potato won't wake up...

5. Good point, tanyev.
However, the point is that Jerry Springer focused on that and not that the Bush family has, for years, been in bed with Saudis.

Randi Rhodes has covered this many times, and we must therefore assume that Jerry Springer is as much an imbecile as he appears to be on his "trailer park trash" TV show.

Then again, maybe you're right. If that's what it takes to get through to Joe Couch Potato, WTF. Nonetheless, do we really want a country where the standard for intelligence/awareness/enlightenment are set by Joe Couch Potato?

Never mind. That was a rhetorical question. It's obviously the country in which we live. And that's on a good day.
