Think about it.

If you saw gas somewhere for $1.90 or $1.85 a gallon, you would freak out and think you had hit the JACKPOT, wouldn't you?

Yep. Now think back a few years ago. Imagine seeing $ 1.90 a gallon. You'd freak out and yell :wtf: wouldn't you? You'd be pissed off.

Amazing what the price going up s-l-o-w-l-y can do for people. They absorb the cost, a few bucks at a time. A little here, a little there.

Have it come down a bit one week, up a bit more the next. Just to keep people hopeful that this is temporary, that it will come down to what you were used to ANY DAY NOW.

But it's not. It's going higher. I have no idea where it will stop, but you will get used to it.

And you will pay it.

Clever, isn't it? And there's Chimpy McCokespoon playing kissy face with Saudi Arabia. How sweeeeeet.

1. Truer words... today I
filled up my old Corolla because the price of unleaded 'went down to' $2.03/gal. And, $20 later, I thought I was getting a bargain. :eyes:

Keep the weekly average teetering back and forth, while the monthly average goes up and up. Clever bastards, cause' like you said, $1.90 is now a bargain.

5. LOL-->Chimpy McCokespoon........I'm starting to feel the gas pains too
In Cali we have paid god aweful prices for years and years. Silly me, I thought EVERYONE was paying the same thing across the nation. Until I saw a news report about folks back east and elsewhere complaining about $1.98 for regular.

It's true though, the gas prices will NEVER go down like that again. It's like the marketing schemes they use in dept stores: Jack the prices way up just before a scheduled sale, then drop them a wee bit to make it look like the people are getting a bargain when they really aren't. Humph!

Since the gas inflation thing started, I didn't worry too much because I don't drive very often. However, I now have two extra people living in my home. They go to the grocery for me, they drive to school, they do errands, they beg for the vehicle for this and that. THEN...BAM! I'm hit with a gasoline bill that is sky high! And just for driving around town fercrissakes! My last gasoline bill came to the same amount it would have cost us to drive from coastal calif all the way to eastern Idaho and half way back! :wow:

I haven't actually witnessed the prices, I'm just going by my card statements. $$$$$Holy freaking cow!

So anyone willing to help me purchase a hybrid or electric car, please feel free to donate. Yikes

6. You're starting to feel gas pains?
LOL, sorry couldn't resist!

Yeah, we are trying to cut down on driving. We're getting really good at combining trips so that we only go out once to run errands. Or we go by the store, etc on the way home from work.

The other day I was taking my daughter to her violin lesson. We go by a Super Target and my husband needed to get some shirts for work, so he had me drop him off there (her lesson is only 30 minutes) and then pick him up on the way back.

We've never done that before.

Also, he puts on an empty backpack and bikes up to the grocery store a lot now.

We bike to the library. There aren't tons of places we can bike to, but we're trying.

12. Heehee, you liked that line eh?
When I was the only driver, I did like you do: get as much done in one outing as possible. I'm now trying to impress the same action on the rest of the drivers in family. There's also the BUS. Kids hate taking the bus but I say boo hoo. Walking for some outings isn't a bad thing either...keeps one fit.

Kudos to the biking. I have an electric scooter I should be using more often.

Come to think of it, our goober governor is trying to kill the transportation funds; less buses, no new rail service. I laughed when I discovered the traffic backup on a street was due to the county painting FRESH WHITE AND YELLOW LINES on ruined, POTHOLED streets.

Who are these 'morans' running the gov? Sheesh

7. Il Dunce was practically making out with that horrid despot.
I mean, come ON! The hand holding...the kissing...look, if that's Saudi custom, that's fine...but Jesus Christ...if he ever wanted to give the world the impression that he and Abdullah are locked in a loving, gentle bout of mutual masturbation, that was it.

10. It's so funny...
That two men who are so very homophobic - one who likes to execute gays, the other who probably would like to - think it perfectly acceptable to prance around and do things that would make Charles Nelson Reilly blush.

11. It's ironic
If two years ago, someone would have proposed a 15 cent increase of the gas tax to reduce the deficit, people would have screamed bloody murder. Now they just bite the bullet.
I guess that's what happens when you know the cost of everything and the value of nothing.

14. Absolutely.
It will hit $2.23 and hold steady for a year or so, making it the new baseline. Then they will start the cycle all over again.

Honestly... when will the middle class wake up and say they've had enough?

15. I think you're right.
Someday you won't even bat an eye at $4 a gallon.

And we'll still not have mass transportation down here.

16. And on top of that...
.. most 'Muricans will be getting a crappy 2.5 annual increase if any at all and will sink deeper into he throes of middle-class working poor. All the while the corporations, bankers and stock market will continue to rape the public using the free pass this evil administration has given them.

Makes me sick.

Or are they really giving each other five...in mutual congratulations for getting the price of gas up there where they both want it.

19. Slowly? More like a drunken monkey.
Over the past ten days in Central Ohio:

Went from $2.07 to $2.49

Went from $2.49 to $2.35

Went from $2.35 to $2.07

Went from $2.07 to $1.97

Went from $1.97 to $2.44

Went from $2.44 to $2.07

Who knows what it will be in the morning, let alone 20 minutes later. I have whiplash. :)
