Whatever happened to Ashleigh Banfield on MSNBC?
I remember hearing that she made a speech criticizing the mainstream media's war coverage, that she was fired by MSRNC, and then nothing.

Thanks for visiting my official website!

April 16th, 2005

I appreciate the kind words you've all left in the guestbook. The New York Post did, indeed, report this week that my husband and I are expecting. And although it was not something I had actually 'announced' (it was a little too early to make public) it is true, and we couldn't be happier.

Thanks to all of you for your well wishes.. it means so much to us!

On another topic ... a good friend of mine just appeared this week on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (the most clever program on television today!) .. and I encourage anyone who is the least bit politically minded to check out his book "Independent Nation." Its a look at american centrists through the ages.. and how they've truly held the balance of power when it comes to government and policy making. In this day of polarized talking heads .. he is a refreshing voice for moderation!

Thought I'd try my hand in legal reporting this week (having never tackled that beat) .. and dabbled in Court TV Friday. I filled in for Catherine Crier ... and I have to say ... it was a blast! She's got a ROCKIN' staff!.. smart... informed.. and extremely clever. Next week, on Friday April 22, I'm going to give live trial work a shot... and cover the 2-hour time block from 9am to 11am. Its much different from foreign correspondence... and certainly a challenge. Most people who work at Court TV are trained attorneys and could run circles around me in their legal knowledge! Therein lies that challenge!

PS: for the best daily coverage of The Michael Jackson trial .. tune into Diane Dimond and Savannah Guthrie. They live, eat, and breathe the details of this trial... no one can put anything past these two! Diane has broken most of the Jackson stories you've seen for the past 12 years.

See you next Friday!

Ashleigh Banfield

8. The "Independent Nation" guy concerns me
The "independents" he was plugging as examples on Stewart's show were McCain and Giuliani. Those are not exactly what I'd call "centrists" or "independents."

6. she got treated like crap at msnbc
a friend who is good friends with an ex-msnbc anchor (now at CNN) says that Banfield was really talented, nice and great to work with and they treated her like poo.

7. I miss her coat
She had this one suede and canvas coat that she ended up taking all over afghanistan with her and by the time she was done I think they needed to bury the coat or something as it was so freakin dirty. ---

As for MSNBC, I am so sick of the headliners and "legends" BS that if I see the Susan Smith one again I am going to pull an Elvis on the TV.... and drop a .45 slug right there in the ole picture tube.

thank god for keith
