We 'lost' to Crazy people
Edited on Sat Apr-23-05 01:05 PM by ck4829
This little Conservative 'revolution' just keeps getting better and better.

Here's the proof that we, and America, lost not to the Village Idiot, but to the Idiot Village. This little gem was said at the CPAC in early in February.

"We continue to discover biological and chemical weapons and
facilities to make them inside Iraq." - Chris Cox (R-CA)

This guy INTRODUCED Dick Cheney!

1. Perfect description...
...How often do we all stare at the TV screen mouth agape and eyes wide with astonishment.

We look like advocates of inbreeding in the international media. I am embarrassed for my country...

2. Chris Cox is a few bricks short of a load.
A friend gave me a stack of the NRA American Hunter magazines and this Cox clown writes a column in it.

Is this clown still in congress or just a blowjob boy for the NRA?

6. This is simply because the few with selfish interests control the media
Through that, you can have great influence over molding perceptions of the people.

8. I disagree
To call them idiots is to imply that they don't know any better. I don't believe that for a second. These are people that can split the hairs on a gnats ass over what is and is not sex. So they are capable of distinguishing right from wrong. So they are doing this with malice of forethought.

I think we need to form a Retraction Committee. The committee would monitor all media for the latest republican lie. Then contact the media source reporting the lie and furnish them with the truth and a demand for a retraction. Then sue the RNC for all costs associated with correcting their lies. After they have lost several cases they might send out a memo to ensure their membership understands that NO WMD's have been found in Iraq.

12. Thank You and that depends on what you mean by "helpful"
It's a quick fix and that can be a problem if that is all it is. It's may stop the lie but not the liar. That will have to be done in a court of law. This the angle I'm seeing. The DNC files suite against the RNC for violations of truth in advertising laws. They would be seeking to expand the decision in NORML vs. partnership for a drug free America subject: "Brain waves PSA" to include live PSA's and Promotions. That was an event to promote the republican party and they should be bound by truth in advertising laws. If the judge rules in their favor. The judge will order the republican party and it's members to quit perpetuating this fraud. Then when they say WMD's were found in Iraq. They violate a court order. Then that person goes before the judge who can fine them, imprison them, or both. They would have no first amendment defense. They can not go into a crowded and yell fire or WMD's were there is none. Considering that the message is fraudulent it would also be criminal speech (speech used in the commission of a crime. In this case Fraud.) This will stop the liars.

13. The truth in advertising laws don't pertain to political ads.
Edited on Sat Apr-23-05 05:44 PM by cry baby
They can say pretty much whatever they want.

I took on a man around here a few years ago that put pics of aborted fetuses in tv ads. It was traumatic for my 3 yr old to see that and I called the tv station and they told me the law (truth in advertising) didn't apply to political ads (because there were lies in the ads also). I called the govt to find out if that was true. They verified it.

We have to shame the corporate media to cover things differently.

14. It must have been before the brain waves suite
or the government isn't up to speed as usual. Remember if you call the IRS information line. 80% of the answers you are given will be incorrect. Even without Bush the government can a very bad source of information. To the best of my knowledge only commercials produced by political canidates running for office are exempt from truth in advertizing laws. This isn't an election year so that was a PSA or party promotion which is bound by the law.
