Edited on Sat Apr-23-05 08:01 AM by DistressedAmerican
THE WARNING FROM THESE HYPOCRITES' HOME PAGE:

THERE IS NOT A SHRED OF GOSPEL TO BE FOUND THERE. JUST BIGOTRY AND HATRED!
=================================================================

From the sick fucks at www.godhatesfags.com
Possibly the single most offensive website I've ever seen. Checked them out after seeing a recent post of shots of kids wearing God Hates Fags t-shirts.

Nice! I'm Sure God Loves That!

I'm going to refrain from saying what I think should happen to these folks as it would violate posting rules! Use your imagination!

This is truly sick stuff!

Monument dedicated to Matthew Shepard's Entry Into Hell, which WBC intends to erect in Casper City Park as a solemn Memorial that God Hates Fags & Fag-Enablers

One of many scheduled events to celebrate the anniversary of Mathew's "entry into hell":

WBC to picket the sodomite whorehouse masquerading as the City of Casper, Wyo. -- in Celebration of the '5th Anniversary of Matt Shepard's Entry Into Hell' -- on Oct. 19 @ First Methodist (8 a.m.), Matt Shepard Foundation (8:45 a.m.), St. Mark's Episcopal (9:30 a.m.), First Presbyterian (10 a.m.), St. Anthony's Catholic (10:30 a.m.) -- in religious protest/warning: 'God is not mocked!' God Hates Fags! & Fag-Enablers! Ergo, God hates Casper and Casper's damnable sodomite Zeitgeist that killed Matt and sent him to Hell inculcating in him cradle to grave the soul-damning lie: It's OK to be gay.

4. Why give these assholes publicity?
The only publicity that I thought was worth a damn was Michael Moore's AWFUL TRUTH episode, where he brought a bunch of totally out there queens in outrageous costumes to one of their demonstrations. He had BUSLOADS, the haters were outnumbered by singing, dancing, costumed gay folk, and the net result was that passers-by got a huge kick out of it, and the hatemongers were, in effect, neutered.

12. Here's a link to the Moore piece, explained!
http://gaytoday.badpuppy.com/garchive/entertain/041999en.htm

Accompanied by student actors pretending to be gung-ho gay activists, Moore calls on Westboro Baptist Church's Rev. Fred Phelps of God Hates Fags fame, picketmeister at Matthew Shepard's funeral and, most recently, at the trial of one of his killers. While Michael chats on camera with Phelps—showing him a big-print Bible-- his student-activist entourage jumps out of the Sodomobile dancing around and flirting with the minister, handing him reading material about the joys of anal sex.

Phelps, natch, gets caught in the crossfire of Michael's camera-guerilla tactics and when he realizes he's being had starts quoting Bible verses in a vain attempt to ward off Satan's 'evil' spells. But it's too late. The Awful Truth poignantly captures the Rev. Phelps in all his finest Baptist buffoonery.

"Our goal wasn't to slander Phelps or really hurt him but to bring out the ignorance of his protests," said one of The Awful Truth's student actors, "Michael brought out how sad it really is."

Defamation of character, using his image, etc.? It seems to me that there would be legal grounds.

I can't imagine hating anyone person or group of people this much. The odds are there's someone gay in that family... Jesus.

36. The Matthew Shepard Monument is the best thing to happen to America!
No, I'm serious on this. Ol' Fred's crazier than a shithouse rat and if he didn't have no faggits around to hate he'd have to invent them, but I love what his Shepard Monument has done to small-town America.

Check this shit out: Mah Buddy Fred, being a good scholar of the law, knows that if a municipality has an expression of religion in the town square they have to be inclusive and install every expression of religion anyone wants to plop down. So he seeks out good God-fearing communities who have Ten Commandments statues in their city parks and informs them that a crew will be coming by later this week to install the Memorial to Matthew Shepard.

Twenty-four hours later, the city council of the city involved meets and votes unanimously to pull up the Ten Commandments monument and put it in front of a church, where it belongs.

Fred then gets in his dump truck and heads on down the road to the next community that's got a Ten Commandments Monument in City Park.

The only other group that's done more to bring small towns into the 21st Century is the KKK. When the Klan demands to have its logo put on the "welcome to Smallville" sign on the edge of town, a civic-group-logo-free sign goes up the next morning.

10. The Phelp's clan consists of a family of preaching lawyers
The city they reside in would have liked to have gotten rid of them decades ago. But the means of raising money they use is to sue anyone that crosses their path in the wrong way. Virtually every member of his family (the bulk of his congregation) are lawyers. They create a paper storm whenever anyone messes with them.

19. Turn the table
The way to take them down is to tie them up in Court. This "preaching" is not protected religion, it is incitefullness to harm others and they should be prosecuted. It is GWB's America, but we need a prosecutor in a blue state to arrest these idiots when they come to town for incitement to harm and hold them without bail until trial. Then, people need to bring civil suits against them - if anyone is gay-bashed within one week of their incitement activities.

13. lacrimae laramie
A song in tribute to Matthew Shepard by Hugh Blumenfeld; and offered up as an antidote to hate:

underneath God's own big sky
a man stands bound
on stony ground
cut and beaten, left to die
arms lashed wide
crucified

and the mercury falls like an angel
and the wind cries all night through the fence:
o laramie
lacrimae laramie
all across the pastures of plenty
where the cowboys embrace in their tents

Whose shepherd was he then?
You cursed his wounds
and the young men he knew
his crime was loving them
but the fire he drew
was for loving you

and the mercury falls, falls like an angel
and the wind cries all night through the fence:
o laramie
lacrimae laramie
across the pastures of plenty
where the cowboys embrace in their tents

14. Let me tell you a story about a small town's run-in with this group.
Our stupid little Greeneville, TN city council voted to declare that God is a part of government. (I don't live in Greeneville but I get the paper) They set up a declaration stating that our founding fathers never meant to separate church and state, and God will always be considered in all government decisions. They had a little fair to celebrate with speeches, the American flag everywhere and other disgusting things. Then this godhatesfags group heard about this and knew they found just the right town full of people for a great statue. They offered to put up a statue of Mathew Shepard going to hell. They would give the city fathers a life size statue right on the square, with Mathew Shepard suffering, on his way to hell.

Well the city fathers were truly stunned. Just because they put God back into government didn't mean they hated fags. The city fathers turned them down. Well that pissed this group off and they applied for a permit to have a demonstration outside city hall on Sunday to protest the city fathers decision to turn down the monument. The city fathers couldn't turn the permit down without looking like the hypocrites they were, so a rally of the godhatesfags was planned for Sunday. Well finally some smart people started getting upset that these hate mongers were going to descend on their town. All (well most) of the religious leaders started planning counter demonstrations. The police were out in force on Sunday the counter demonstrators were everywhere. Thousand showed to counter this hate group. And guess what? The godhatesfags group never showed.

Let this be a lesson. If you sound like a hate group you will attract hate groups.

39. A kick for Sakia Gunn and Rashawn Brazill
Two gay youths killed in the NYC area in the past year. One a 17 year old murdered lesbian, the other a 19 year old gay men whose body was dismembered and disposed of in garbage cans across the A line subway on Valentines day.

But, thankfully, Phelps doesn't notice African-American queers as much.

And UNthankfully, the MSM barely notices their deaths at all.

Can you imagine the national outrage if a 19 year old straight white girl was dismembered, body parts turning up in garbage cans all over NYC? I guess some people matter more than others.

I worry that people don't understand. Matthew Shepard was not the only GLBT person murdered in America during the past 10 years. There were 78 hate crime murders against GLBT people last year alone and god knows how many assaults.

Edited on Sat Apr-23-05 07:54 AM by RevCheesehead
I thought you made your point just fine without it. The sign itself is offensive to me, personally, because there is NO gospel in what Phelps has to say. (Gospel literally means "good news.")

(If it's from Freddie's website, then please say so. That way, it is clear that he is being deliberately offensive to Christians - thanks!)

20. ok, that's what I thought.
It's just that that particular sign IS offensive - to both Christians and non-Christians. Because it is offensive, it fans the flame-wars. Therefore, it's clear what Phelps' true objectives are: to spread hate everywhere (this is way beyond "self-righteousness").

30. There is no Gospel there it is Old Testament....
I would have said distortion of the bible ahead. I only pay attention to the Gospels. Here is my favorite interpretation of that verse...

http://www.religioustolerance.org/hom_bibh.htm

Waskow cites two alternate meanings to the passage:

"Do not lie with a man as if it were the same thing as lying with a woman." That is, when two gay males have a sexual encounter, they should continuously be aware that it is different from a male-female coupling. It might be interpreted to mean: "Set up a parallel set of institutions for dealing with this kind of sexual relationship, different from those that apply to sexual relationships between a man and a woman."
"Do not sleep with a man as it were with a woman" That is, if two males engage in a sexual act, neither should pretend that the passive partner is like a woman. They should be fully aware of their sexual orientation and maleness. i.e. they should come out of the "closet" and recognize their gayness. 6

He concludes that if this passage condemns some forms of homosexual behavior, it may refer only to the ancient Israelites, not to North America today. Perhaps: "at one time of human and Jewish history the path avoided gay male sexuality, and at a later time this avoidance might be null and void? Can the circle of the beloved community widen as we mature?"

Anyway these are some sick mofos! There has to be a way to counter this. I watched the Matthew Shepard documentary on the Sundance channel and there are a lot of nice folks in Laramie who can counter this shit. omg this makes me sick. I swear these people are evil incarnate.

31. So who's the REAL Sodomite?
Ezekiel 16:49 (King James Version)
"Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy."

Phelps and his "klan" rant about Sodomites, but according to this his pride and "inhospitality to strangers" seem to condemn him of "the sin of Sodom."

Actually, using that definition BushCo and his cronies might be describes as Sodomites, too.

33. The real differences between the two
1) Minor Doctrine: Phelps thinks that GLBT people are beyond redemption at this point. Ratzinger thinks that GLBT people can regain God's grace if we stop loving one another and repent.

2) Tactics: Phelps is not the leader of 1 Billion people so he must use marketing gimmicks like picketing funerals. Ratzinger can just write a politically influential letter to the right people.

The similarities are that both believe that Matthew Shepard is burning in Hell. Both believe that GLBT people are a major force of destruction in the world that need to be rallied against.
