Anyone else still wearing a black bracelet/ribbon?
I've been wearing a simple black ribbon around my wrist since 11/3. It is my silent protest this this administration. And it symbolizes my mourning for this country, and that quickly turned into anger. It actually serves to remind me every day of what we are fighting for- instead of just going through the motions of daily life.

Lately I've had a lot of people notice it and ask about it. This is probably because it is finally warm enough to wear tshirts here and the ribbon is more noticeable. I take the chance to explain to people it is in protest of the Bush admin, and in mourning of what I going down the tubes around me. I've had some interesting reactions.

One reaction of a guy I work with was that he was not too pleased with it. I worried for a second that he might complain- even though I work in a very liberal university setting. I don't see this as a direct political statement, so I don't think I have anything to worry about anyway.

I had one co-worked who holds my same political views tell me "don't mourn- organize" and I signed. Yeah, I do as much activism as I can. But, I am also just still sad.

Is anyone else wearing something black around their wrists? Any reactions?

1. Not on my wrist - but on my car antenna
I still have a black ribbon. It will stay on my car until Bush is out of office.

5. I use white, it's the color of mourning in most of the rest of the
world. I used black for awhile though. I have ribbons tied to the antenna on my car and in front of my house. These represent more than the mourning of the death of our country, they also represent the loss of lives in Iraq and I never hesitate to educate others.
I am also active, but will continue to mourn until things are made right in this country and Iraq/the world of US oppression.
Thanks for the post geekgrrl.

6. Blue paper clip and an orange ribbon
I always have at least one blue paper clip on my shirt. If I am wearing a turtle neck under another shirt, then I have two clips on. I keep extras in my pocket to pass out to anyone that asks what it means too.

I have an orange ribbon on my jacket, right next to my Kerry Traveler button.

7. I wore a black bracelet until about a week ago.
I fully expected to wear it until the next election, but the other day I looked at it and realized that I was done mourning and ready to fight. So I took it off. And I have felt better since then.

No one really asked me what it meant. Several people eyed it suspiciously, but no one asked.

9. I need to get one of those. I still have my Kerry/Edwards sign in my yard
I got a card sent to me in the mail thanking me for keeping it up this long. The person said it makes them smile and gives them hope everytime they drive by my house. I also get lots of honks and waves when I'm out mowing the grass. I know it's because of my Kerry sign. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one in town with one still up.

So glad to be living in the DEEP BLUE state of Illinois. LINCOLN LAND ROCKS!!
