Chafee Voting for Bolton
Just saw it on the Bloomberg news crawl. Vote this afternoon. Anyone else hear this?

3. isn't a bit of false hope
entertaining? These people would confirm Ted Bundy if Bush nominated him. Chafee has never voted against a Bush appointment.

4. This is exactly why we need to target moderate Repugs everywhere
They get elected in areas where we should be winning. Then they go to DC and get their asses creamed by the hard right who threaten the shit out of them if they don't follow the party line.

I am NO Joementum supporter, bt his kind is much better than guys like Chaffee who waffle on principle and vote in ways that are entirely self interest (staying in office with party support) instead of how their constituents want.

**Every** moderate repub needs to be challenged. That's where our new seats will be easiest to get. A conservative Dem can win in districts and states that elect "liberal" repubs. While this may, indeed, be a compromise on certain issues, in the end, I'd rather have a guy like Lieberman, no matter how sucky his votes, because it puts us closer to - or actually in - power. And that, given that we're completely shut out, needs to be our first priority.
