Freepers celebrate death of Marla Ruzicka
Edited on Mon Apr-18-05 07:17 PM by Charlie Brown
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1385646/posts

"Just great - another Leftist martyr."

"Heck, she was probably *inside* the suicide car bomb, or else outside it nagging the Mujis to get the right wiring."

"She wasn't a humanitarian. She was a useful idiot. It was poetic justice, not a tragedy."

"It's not just "IRONY", as many here are saying. I have my suspicion about why an active dissident would be in such proximity to a car bomb."

"May her anti-American ass rest in peace."

"The gene pool is better off, today.."

"She was actively agitating against our country. Not all eyes will weep for her."

35.  The senseless death of the woman who fought George Bush
By Patrick Cockburn in Sulaymaniyah and Andrew Buncombe in Washington

19 April 2005

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x1404110

She looked like she should be surfing on a beach in California but Marla Ruzicka was drawn instead to Iraq and her self-appointed task of helping the civilian victims of George Bush's war. She was 28 years old and had been a peace activist since a young age. She went to Baghdad as the head of her own charity, determined to find out how many Iraqis had been killed or injured by US forces and get compensation for survivors.

At the weekend, the dedication that had taken Marla from her home in San Francisco to the war zones in Afghanistan and Iraq, led to her death.

On Saturday afternoon, as she and her driver were on the road leading from Baghdad to the city's airport, a suicide bomber attacked a passing convoy of security contractors. Marla's car was caught in the blast and engulfed in flames. A US Army medic who tried to help her said she was briefly conscious and was able to speak. "I'm alive," she had told him. She died along with an unnamed French national and an Iraqi.

The question everyone always asked about Marla was from where did she get all of her energy. She was constantly on the move: chattering, smiling, rushing to a hospital, dashing to a meeting, cajoling journalists, pestering diplomats, taking notes from a woman whose relatives had been killed, crossing time zones, entering people's lives.

9. She founded "Campaign for Innocent Victims in Combat"
She was in Iraq collecting info on the number of civilian casualties in the war, and was killed in a car bomb yesterday.

Freepers consider that "treasonous"

10. Some of the kinder thoughts from the Freepers:
God rest her soul. She was trying to give comfort to others.

Eh... I actually have some sympathy in this case - the deceased wasn't doing something quite as stupid as standing in front of a bulldozer. And technically, she was ministering to others...

I agree. At least this lib put her actions were her mouth was.

Thoughts and prayers to her family and loved ones.

She was, in fac,t a humanitarian. Liberal or not, she was an American. God rest her soul.

Thank you, that is the only appropriate response to this tragedy. May her soul find comfort.

Sadly enough i know the name Medea Benjamin. In a civilized society her name shouldn't become so well known.

Precisely. She was an opponent I for one can *respect.* God rest her, and I am sure He welcomed her with open arms.

Traitorous? Not at all, if her intentions were true, her numbers accurate, and her reasons honest.

God rest her soul. She was trying to give comfort to others. Despite her politics, you do have to give her that.

Edited on Mon Apr-18-05 07:29 PM by Moochy
I too saw some decent human things posted there. I signed up of course to post some subversive posts, as "DeathIsFunny" and I got banned before I could even reply to a single thread.

One person posted that he could barely muster a laugh about her death, unlike Rachel Corrie's death, which tickled him pink apparently.

Sick fucks like that deserve a special place in hell.

Hope that was the case, and if so you're right. But it sounds more like she was looking for evidence to blast the US.

It's not what you think. She was working for Medea Benjamin, the American Communist who penned the pro-Castro Cuban Revolution book as well as who was caught giving several hundred thousand Dollars to the insurgency in Falluja.

Heck, she was probably *inside* the suicide car bomb, or else outside it nagging the Mujis to get the right wiring.

Yeah, the terrorists. No other possibility if she spent 10 years working for Medea Benjamin. Nice pink head scarf she has.

"She was trying to give comfort to others."

No. She wasn't.

She was killed trying to prove her country was evil and that liberating millions of people from tyranny was wrong.

She was killed trying to discredit the US military and the US government.

She was killed trying to make the enemy appear to be good while making her country look bad.

It's too bad that she was killed, but she had no business being there and her activities were traitorous.

I was too PISSED to check that site out by myself. I've said on a few occasions that there are some decent people there, but that stuff strained my tolerance past the breaking point.

Here's a comment from Orwell to those blodthirsty Freepers: "All the war-propaganda, all the screaming and lies and hatred, comes invariably from people who are not fighting."

How they could so viciously go after Ruzicka just baffles the mind--she was one of those rare humans who wanted to do only good. She wasn't motivated by politics, she was motivated by humanity.

What contemptible scum.

14. Well I hate freepers, but if you pick and choose comments,
... you could probably construct a post called "DU celebrates Pope's death." Obviously the majority of people expressed sorrow or at minimum respect when he passed, but there were an obnoxious few who insisted that denigrating the man because of his politics was more important than showing human sympathy. I think these people were in the minority, but again, if you simply pick and choose, you can make anyone out to be anything you want them to be.

I refuse to dirty my browser history with FR, but were the majority of comments there humane, or were the majority rude and disrespectful? Again, I'm not apologizing for freepers; they are ignorant and petty, at the least. But making overarching claims could backfire on us, too, since DU has its share of radicals with unpopular views, as well.

Those modern-day Nazis are anti-American traitors through and through. Every one of their deeply anti-Christian souls spewing against Marla is points in her favor to get into heaven. It's the ones expressing sorrow for her that has to have St Peter questioning his judgement. They are anti-Christs on their best days, and he knows that.

You lived a wonderful if short life Marla. Rest in peace.

36. READ THIS! I know why they didn't like her.
Well, you see, them freeper boys, they get, you know, a little resentful about people like her because, well, how do I put this...A woman who looked like her would never have looked at a loser like most Freepers.

Think about it. These are guys who have spent large portions of their pointless lives lusting after pretty, smart women. But pretty, smart women won't have anything to do with the kind of acned wankers who live in their parents' basements and populate Free Republic between visits to porn websites and the Kleenex box.

You don't have to have a degree in psychology to figure this out, yes?
