WHEN THERE'S A DRAFT -->It's obvious who should go first
It's simple: pull out everyone's voting record and everyone who voted for B*** and is of age, should be handed an instant draft card and the next quick bus to boot camp.

The next group would be people w/ "Support the Troops". Ribbons on their cars.

These so-called "Patriots" will be given the chance to put their money where there mouth is. They would be given the chance to die as "heroes" and great Americans and we would benefit by having a nice thinning of the redneck population.

Win, win situation for everyone involved.

Just a thought when I'm at my lowest.

1. Great idea!
Although I tried pushing that idea on the campus Republicans (they were having a "support the troops" rally).

Strangely, none of them were for it...

5. I have also found that you can't shame them into enlisting
Their response is always "Hey, there are already people who have signed up" I have also found their response to American casualties to be "Well, they knew that was a possibility when they signed up" Absolutely incredible. Just imagine their response if a leftist had such a cavalier response toward US military deaths.

These people are despicable and are more than worthy of contempt.

18. that's the rationalization i get too
but i try to do my bit by leaving enlistment forms around labelled " Patriots for Bush". and I write on sticky notes : " If you voted for Bush, ENLIST! " i leave those around too.

oh! and i leave notes around saying " event for Bush " and put down the local recruiters' address.

9. I can supply you w/ many examples
But how about this version of redneck:

1. A rabid supporter of the Invasion of Iraq.

2. Seconds later, this same person will turn around and go apeshit
about how Terri Schievo was murdered.

3. This person could not tell you 1 historical fact about
the middle east but buys all anti-arab propaganda.

4. This person cannot tell you one historical fact about US imperialist
operations around the world but will always believe these
operations are about preserving our "freedoms".

I hope this definition gives you a better picture of the perfect soldier.

17. Doesn't Fit
That description can fit anyone who voted for Bush, even a rich, white sophisticated northerner. Or a black trade union member, or a middle class surburban stay at home mom, or A Latino business community leader, etc., etc.,

One third of union members in the south voted for Bush. That's too bad, but they can hardly be called "white trailer trash" or "rednecks" as some self-proclaimed "liberals" love to do.

30. How about "rednecks in polo shirts"?
That's the term I use for the bush supporters who live in suburban McMansions. They may not be "poor white trash" (which is a despicable classist term), but they certainly evince a redneck mentality.

11. Good Question
His definition of redneck might be every white person who isn't rich doesn't speak the King's English and isn't so very cool and intellectual like himself. You know. The so-called "white trailer trash" that some rich folks love attacking and putting down.

42. Here's a clue
* You got stopped by a state trooper and he asks you if you have an I.D. and you say "Bout what?"

* You think "Genitalia" is an Italian airline.

* If you've carried a fishin pole into SeaWorld

* You have flowers planted in a bathroom fixture in your front yard.

* You've been on TV more than 5 times describing the sound of a tornado.

* You think the stock market has a fence around it.

* Your idea of quality entertainment is a sixpack and a bugzapper.

* If anyone in your family died after saying, "Hey Ya'll, watch this!"

* When you were little, a tree in your yard got toilet papered and your momma thought it was a gift from God.

Well...you asked.

4. I like this idea
It's one thing to state your belief about this war...its another to face the reality of it.

My personal opinion is that those who support the war are delusional. Signing them up to go over to fight would cure that fast!

You've opened a door and I'll just walk through it:

What about the grunt who BELIEVES in the mission, even now, after all that's been revealed, after the administration all but has said, "YEAH, we lied your asses into this war, so sue me"?

The sad part is that there are too many* who won't part with the delusion.

8. Your Anti-Working Class Bias And Stereotyping Is Showing!
Oppose the draft. Millions of those so-called "rednecks" did not vote for anyone. Millions of "rednecks" voted for John Kerry and yes some "rednecks" who opposed George Bush even voted for Ralph Nader because they were opposed to the occupation of Iraq.

And what about those who voted for Bush? I won't write them off people you insult because of their class and regional background, not by a long shot. Your post does nothing to win them away from the right-wing. Your post assumes that economic and political changes can have no impact of the views and opinions of millions. And your post also rejects any attempt to build a powerful anti-draft movement that reaches out to everyone no matter how they may have voted in 2000 or 2004. At best, your post has given you an opportunity to let off some steam and rage about things you really don't understand. Perhaps you can overcome your anti-working class bias and stereotype of southern whites. I hope so.

Guess what. If you still support Kerry, Reid, Senator Clinton, etc., I don't think you're very bright at all! But, I won't write you off as hopeless even if you think John Kerry was the greatest thing to come along since Abraham Lincoln!

Where the hell did you get that. I voted for him out of desparation but I think he's a walking turd as he voted for this war and thought it was a great thing - only it was being handled the wrong way.

Anti working class? Where did you get that?

It's directed specifically to people who still are viciously supporting this war and will support the next invasion of an Arab country IE. Iran.

" voted for him out of desparation but I think he's a walking turd as he voted for this war and thought it was a great thing"

So let me see if I've got this right. You're against the war and occupation of Iraq and that's why you voted for someone who supported the war and occupation. And your explanation for that strange behavior is desperation?

Well, let me ask you a question. If you're for the Bill of Rights and favor the right of workers to form labor unions, out of desperation, would you consider voting for someone who wants to destroy unions and tear up the Bill of Rights?

Clearly you are smarter and have more political savvy than those dumb "rednecks"!!!!!!!!

31. Well let's see here - I also don't believe my vote really counted
1. As I know the whole election was rigged

I got involved in other ways I feel matter quite a bit more:

1. Was an Election Protection poll monitor.

2. Gave a decent sum to Dennis Kucinich who is an anti-war candidate.

3. I am volunteering my time to this group: http://www.mfso.org /
by designing them a new website.

4. I am also volunteering my time to this group:
http://internationalistbooks.org / by working on their website.

5. I attended every march in my area against the war.

Come on - you're on a forum where, probably 90% of the folks voted for Kerry out of desparation.

Again - You keep ignoring the #1 criteria for my post: "Rabid supporter of the Invasion of Iraq".

Why do keep ignoring this and attacking me for things I haven't said.
This anti-working class shit-where's it coming from?

I'm 36 years old and spent my entire life in the working class so you're stupid is even more laughable.

27. And millions did vote for the Dumbass in chief
and I'm kind of tired of this "Dr. Dean says we gotta love rednecks, so we have to stop saying redneck."

I'm sorry, but I'm neither rich, nor do I speak the "King's English," but in my opinion, the middle class and the lower middle class are partially responsible for their own shit pile. Maybe they didn't vote for Bush, but they vote for Bush every time they buy something "name brand," that's priced beyond its use value, consume for no practical reason -- namely IMAGE for many, liberals included -- and continue to otherwise "not rock the boat" so they can continue to otherwise squeak out their role as human capital in the least uncomfortable way as possible.

The "working man" or woman is not above scorn -- liberals, conservatives, Bush voters, Kerry voters, whatever. If you take the aggregate into account, and the fact that the "working men" far outnumber the rich or the poor, and the fact that we live in a democracy (or, at least we did), it's pretty clear to me, who is twisting the knife into their own guts, and a nice fresh tour of Hotel Iraq is, in my opinion, just what the doctor ordered.

I agree with you about not sterotyping, but driving the term "redneck" from the discourse because we have to be "sensitive," while the propaganda patrol reel in their brainstems by making us sound like the re-incarnation of Stalin with Mao on his shoulder and a sickle in his teeth, eating their guns and cars for no other reason than that dirty hippie, making sweet groove on the bongos, wants to rule the cul-de-sac-ers with his "liberal elite" privilege -- is fucking ludicrous.

I don't believe that all Southern white males who watch NASCAR are Bush trumpeteers, but for god's sake -- a redneck is a redneck -- and I'm from fucking Southern Illinois, so I know one when I see one -- and one has to make a choice to admire Gretchen Wilson, leave the "-ings" of the ends of their words and drink Budweiser. Let them love it. Let them eat three-wheelers.

that the reinstitution of the draft comes about Aug 2006---that would be perfect timing.

The way I picture it is that three months before the midterm elections, families start kissing their loved ones goodbye--sending them off to die for the Bush regime.

We will win the midterm elections in a landslide.
