1. He's right, you know ...
All they do is TALK about freedom--they don't really want you to have it.

3. The problem is
When cons talk about freedom, they really mean unfettered, unregulated capitalism, totally unimpeded by morality.

22. Bingo. Freedom for corporations and the uber-rich to do whatever
Edited on Sun Apr-17-05 09:07 AM by BlueEyedSon
they want to the masses, the environment & the world.

It's "speaking in code" to that part of their base. Look at the tax cuts and the bankruptcy bill.... "freedom" is truly on the march!

...it ain't worth the bile. Nothing depresses me more than RW callers on CSPAN. Most of them get their philosophy off bumper stickers.

These fools are best ignored. They are the ranks of the misled, misguided, and misinformed. I do enjoy listening to the ad hominum attacks on dems...

7. The men who were calling in berating that woman were just
Downright abusive! I'm sorry that C-SPAN didn't see fit to take up for her. However, I did get a very interesting glimpse into the soul of Republican men-- EVIL!

9. well, here's another wacky thing ...(don't know how to post a thread)
-- Polly Sigh]

In a break from tradition, I will not be answering the increasingly depressed, angry, and hopeless letters from the lumpen masses. Instead, I will focus today on what has clearly become the issue for our times: Mental Illness.

It used to be that the legions of loons - the magical misfits - the wonderful wackos – were made up largely of the downtrodden poster-children of the lumpen masses. But now, in breaking news, it turns out that mental illness has infiltrated the elite class, and is afflicting some Congressional members particularly hard.

23. Thanks for your help and thanks for the welcome...
It does mean a lot! Thanks for the welcome. I was a little nervous to post because I am a little technically inept and also was worried if I'd say the wrong thing.

Now getting back to that cut little icon, I don't think I have it yet. So I must not have privaledges yet. Thanks for showing me the way. Also, any other tips...feel free to post them to me.

Thanks :)

10. Of course we don't talk about freedom, except
as a fond remembrance of the past. We're not free now. Democrats are mired in Dubya's dictatorship with no way to overthrow it until 2006.

13. "Freedom's just another word for: nothing left to lose."
Edited on Sun Apr-17-05 07:54 AM by brainshrub
At the rate the BFEE is stealing the wealth of America for the corporate class, there will soon be nothing left to lose.

So maybe the caller is right; The Republicans aren't stealing: They are making us all free.

15. There's a good line in The American President movie....
of course, referring to the Republican Party candidate when it was stated:

"They love America, but hate it's people" ....

It made me think. The Republicans are homophobic, racist bigots, aren't they? Not to mention they think the working poor are lazy, veterans cost way to much to support, they take away jobs by outsourcing them to third world countries and treat those people like shit too, and then continue to build their personal wealth off the backs of the lower and middle working class...WHO...pay way too much more of their fair share in taxes, so the wealthy bastards can buy $6,000 shower curtains, and write them off ! ARGGGGHHHHH.

There ya go, boys and girls, we can frame this debate! I'm sure we can build on this list too :)

17. The only time they give a shit about the masses
is when they need us to go off and fight for them. Of course, they "have other priorities" which don't include getting their butt shot off. I really do hate these people. Could it be time to reopen the oleo strut in Killeen for the Ft. Hood troops. (The Oleo Strut was a Vietnam era dissident coffee house).

20. The republicans love freedom
freedom to pollute my air, water, and food supply
freedom to decide if someone else should have more babies
freedom to impeach or kill judges they disagree with
freedom to decide who other people should marry
freedom to bomb countries that didn't threaten us
freedom to decide who can be discriminated against
freedom to impose their religion on my daughter at public school

The common thread is that they love having the freedom to curtail other people's freedom.
