Catholic Church prays for more priests. Still won't ordain women

or married men.

http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20050413/ap_on_re_eu/pope_too_few_priests_2

While the number of Catholics jumped to more than 1 billion around the globe during John Paul II's 26-year papacy, the number of new priests didn't keep pace. Reversing the decline among American and European men will be a major challenge for the next pope...

"There should be room for married clergy," said Tynan, who noted that even "John Paul II acknowledged that celibacy is a church rule rather than a divinely instituted rule."

Nice how the article doesn't even mention the possibility of female priests. But hey, the RCC feels like alienating even its own clergy? Natural selection isn't just for biological dinosaurs...

1. That's because
the moon will have to begin orbiting around the sun before the RCC accepts woman as priests. We're filled with filth, you know.

2. If you're not going to ordain women . . .
Then quit baptizing them!

Sorry, my anabaptist "priesthood of all believers" side got the better of me.

10. The Council of Nicea grudgingly admitted women had
immortal souls, but that's only so they could be qualified for hell.

I'm not making this up.

3. Lazy idiots...
rather than doing something about the problem, they ask that it just happen. They are the people that are teaching lack of responsibility that we see in so many repukes. Rather than taking action, they don't do anything and hope for the best.

4. Jesus didn't ordain women, and there never have been any women
priests in the history of the church, therefore there should not be any. That's the OFFICIAL reasoning. Staggering isn't it!

6. There will be married men but there will never be any women.
If you want to change the Church, start with married men.

9. I think that married men will take the pressure off to ordain women
The numbers of men willing to join will up, and the wives will do a lot of the non-sacramental work, thereby ameliorating the priest shortage.

7. Then again, Jesus never let the Apostles have "Bingo Night"
or teach kids how to box, either.

Don't think he endorsed nuns with rulers, as far as that goes.

8. You know what is strange....
as a lapsed catholic, who went to catholic schools, and was also an alterboy; I couldn't say one bad thing about the priests in the parish.

I will say this the number of priests getting run up on pedophile charges is staggering.

I would say that it is so staggering that it seems to be the rule and not the exception. It's cultural and I think the real reason why the church doesn't want female priests.

13. The reason is that they want to keep having pederast priests?
I don't understand.

14. It's a sickness....
And like other emotional illness it purpetuates it's own culture.

This is a very old culture, with a very deep emotional illness.
