But not this one:

I'm telling you all, this is a Republican dirty trick. I'd bet my farm on it.

2. Yeah, that crosses the line.
I care about the future of the country. Shrubby is no good. But assassinations and politically motivated murders aren't part of the future I want, either.

6. I don't have a closeup of the the shirt in question, but I doubt...
it was intended as a serious incitement to assassinate.

But I also can understand why they would drop the shirts from their lineup.

9. Oh I agree. The authors were probably just venting or protesting.
For all I know, their INTENT might have been peachy. But the content of the message could be reasonably construed as inciting violence.

And just like how saying "But I was just venting and didn't mean to cause a panic" would not be a very strong defense for shouting "Fire!" in a crowded theater, certain vents/rants/protests are not going to be protected free speech.

It's more of a practical consideration than a formal one.

7. That gives me a Cheney nightmare.
As much as I dislike nearly everything about bushista -- Cheney is at least 10 times worse.

So if I prayed -- I'd pray for bushita's continued good health.

However, I really really doubt that any business would be dumb enough to take an oder for t-shirts with those words.

And note -- that all during the Clinton presidency -- the GOP thugs continually threatened his life, his wife's life and his daughter's life.

I also remember seeing lots of threatening bumper stickers about Clinton and the Democrats. "ah they don't mean what they say -- it's free speech don't ya know!"

Couldn't tell from the thumbnail. That makes it a little better, but still....geez! At least it wasn't a partisan Democratic site.

14. Yes, and "kill" is being used as a synonym for "beat"
as in beat Bush (in the election). This tells me that the shirt has been available for sale since at least Nov 2004. Why are they just now making a stink?

11. I remember hearing as a kid
That saying anything about murdering/harming a President - past or present - was a criminal act even if it was said in jest.

Don't know if that's exactly true or not, but I've never tested it either.
