Revolutionaries. But that term was quickly replaced by "insurgents", because "revolutionary" brought up feelings of identification with the "enemy" we are supposed to be fighting.

The term "terrorist" is a convenient term applied to ANYONE who does not support bushCo's agenda. Remember the "with us or against us" heady days of the red-faced Ashcroft and smugly smirking resident in chief?

"Insurgent" is administration spin-talk that the MSM gladly brought into.

Insurgent is defined as:

1 : a person who rises in revolt against civil authority or an established government;
2 : one that acts contrary to the established leadership
