News: Bush Indifferent Over Falling Poll Numbers

WASHINGTON - The public's dissatisfaction with President Bush and the Republican-led Congress is growing, with ratings dropping amid record high gas prices, war in Iraq, the Social Security debate and the emotional Terri Schiavo case.

The Republican president's job approval is at 44 percent, with 54 percent disapproving. Only 37 percent have a favorable opinion of the work being done by Congress, according to an AP-Ipsos poll...

The president was asked Friday about his falling ratings in some polls, and he claimed indifference.

"Some of them were going up the other day," he responded as he flew back from Rome on Air Force One. "You can find them going up and you can find them going down. You can pretty much find out what you want in polls is my point."

1. What does he care? Popularity is not necessary to win elections anymore
thanks to Diebold.

7. When you control most media and most voting machines you don't HAVE to be
popular. You just have your agents claim otherwise.

If the media was even ONE HALF HONEST, there is no way BushInc would be in control of every aspect of government today.

For one, an HONEST media would have had the voting machine deceits exposed and indicted by now.

20. According to some republicans I've talked to
on other message boards they all think every poll is skewed unless it agree's with them. Like the Schavio ordeal. They're constantly in denial about everything that's going on. And we're the one's out of touch with reality they say. :eyes:

14. When the neocons control all the levers of power in government and the MSM
who gives a diddledy-shit what we the people think or want: just keep your mind and mouth shut and your eyes closed.

19. Exactly
Bush obviously doesn't care what people think as long as he can get done what he and his people want. He'll never be held accountable for anything and neither will anybody who sides with him.

2. I Certainly Hope So
Otherwise, I'm afraid what he would do to get his poll numbers back up.

3. Like he ever gave a shit about what people think.
That is Rove's job, and it is only important for elections, and we may have had the last election we will ever see.

are taught that to be popular is not what Jesus would want. The sinful non-believers must be unhappy for * to know that his mission is successful.

10. The only thing bush is concerned with is pushing his agenda
It may be true he doesn't see a current connection between poll numbers and his political desires for the country. He's not that bright after all.

In his eyes what the people want is irrelevant to what will happen.

17. That's a crock of BS and everybody knows it
Just a few weeks ago Shrub was crowing about spending his political capital and now it's all gone.

A few more points down and CONgress will be flipping him the bird.

DeLay has more support in CONgress than Shrub.

18. Well, of course he wouldn't say anything about being worried
This was a push question so that the papers can print the headlines of Bush not being concerned.
