along the same lines as
ButterflyBlood's question, "Who would you say is an actual example of a "compassionate conservative"?" ...

Can anyone point to an example of any repuke who is, in any way, a decent human being?

Or remember anything positive done by one of them? This is not limited to public actions by any member of the cabal, but can be a personal occurance as well.

To put it another way, is there any R that you would call out to to let them know that a bus was about to run them over?

1. What I find even more interesting...
is the fact that they feel compelled to have to qualify themselves as "compassionate" at all. Ever hear a liberal have to distinguish himself as compassionate?

Besides, the artificially interjected moniker of "compassionate" upon any conservative is a tell-tale sign of sheer hypocrisy.

3. It's the same concept as
"Honest John" or "Fair and Balanced" or the definitive "Pravda" ('truth'). If we didn't say so, it's almost certain you would arrive at another conclusion.

2. Probably an example of reaction formation.
It's often true that someone has to bring something up just because it is not true. Compassionate people don't go around saying "I'm compassionate." Remember Nixon saying, "I'm not a crook?" Who was the repug Senator who said he wasn't the dumbest Senator? Anyone recall? Anyway, anyone who would say such a thing IS the dumbest Senator.

4. Wre we talking about Politicians?
I mean in my personal life, about 2/3 of my friends are probably Republican, but they are all good guys. They tend to be much more centrist Republicans, however.

As for a Republican who is a decent human being; I always liked Jack Kemp. He has his problems and I disagree with him on most of the issues, but got the impression he was a decent guy.
