It means sooooooooo much to me when they price it at $849.95 instead of $850. And damn, getting it in stainless steel is sooooooooo much better than red or any color which is only $799.95.

I'm getting spammed with cooking catalogs I have never ordered from and this is one of them. I like to cook and I like buying cooking equipment but this shit is ridiculous.

And you know what I have noticed with all of the catalogs mailed to me in the last few months...they ALL seem to be begging people to buy something, anything, HEY A RED SPATULA WILL MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER ABOUT YOUR JOB LOSS! And they are all offering FREE SHIPPING.

Now how the hell can that be? Isn't the Economy Grand?

11. Since I've already volunteered to take it. . .
I think I should have a say on the color. I'll go for the stainless. I know, I know. It's more money. But it matches my appliances. Though I can also take black if you all want to save a few bucks.

22. Uh, hmm, thanks for the offer, but I really don't think that I want
one just now, or ever for that matter. I'm glad that I don't receive that many catalogs anymore. I know that it pisses my neighbors off, but I add junk paper to my compost - they don't like my composting until one of them wants to add a flower bed or something. I figure I'm just trying to do a little to keep stuff out of landfills and to help me to grow something pretty, which isn't easy when one lives on a pile of rocks and clay!

7. Get yourself taken off mailing lists.
Save a tree and some aggravation.

I don't have the website, but it removes you from every list you are currently on.

12. Gimme gimme that ...
I am so tired of getting these types of catalogs (Williams sonoma, etc.). I may have bought something from them once awhile ago, but DAMN! They bombard me and I no longer enjoy their WASTE OF PAPER IS RIGHT.

15. You should have seen my mailbox.
Whenever my wife orders something, we both get a catalog. Sometimes when she orders using different credit cards, we get two for each card used.

My wife and I both have difficult names, so any misspelling gets a duplicate catalog.

When I got myself take off the list, I used three or four spellings.

8. Catalogs -- sheesh!
Edited on Thu Apr-07-05 04:50 PM by CrispyQGirl
They send you a catalog. Then a few weeks later you get another one from the same company. The cover will be different & perhaps the items on the front & back pages, but the rest is essentially the same catalog you got 2 weeks ago. How do they have the money to send 3-5 catalogs to me that are basically the same frickin' catalog I've already got?

I especailly like the ones that print on the cover, "You haven't ordered from us in a while. This will be your last catalog if you don't place an order." I've gotten catalogs with this on it even when I've NEVER gotten a catalog from them before!

Edited on Thu Apr-07-05 04:50 PM by matt819
Why don't we all chip in to buy one. We can get everyone to kick in maybe 5 bucks each. Of course, someone has to take possession, so I'll volunteer -- and I'll make an espresso anytime anyone wants. I mean, am I a saint, or what?

10. have opted for a non-stainless propane grill
and having had to pay through the nose to replace the rusted out shell of the grill box just 6 months after the warranty ran out, the extra for stainless is worth it.

13. You just don't understand!!
It's not about stainless it's about the THOUSANDS OF CATALOGS MAILED to homes in this country begging the recipients to buy at least a spatula when 90% of their income comes from the rich fucks who actually buy new expresso machines annually to keep up with the current color fad.

17. but.. but I LIKE stainless steel. Although a nice red one would be SO
lovely.

I'd rather have catalogs than SPAM in my email box.

I can't read SPAM while perched on the potty waiting for that magical moment.

14. Ordering from Spiegel is what started my catalog avalanche
How do I know? Because they misspelled my name on the order I placed with them, and just about every catalog since then arrives with my name misspelled.

I was trying for a while to cut out my mailing address from the back of the catalogue and sending it to the company with a note, "Please take me off your mailing list," but then the stamps got too expensive to keep up the practice. Also, they ignored me. Go figure. Now I just automatically throw them in the magazine recycle bin. x(

18. I have been inundated lately
Not only catalogs, but stores that apparently have my phone number and feel like they should call my answering machine and let me know of an upcoming sale that I just can't miss.

I've rarely gotten those calls, and I've probably had 6 in the last two weeks.

20. I can top that.
I got a call from Dillards (a department store) where a live woman told me bras were on sale the next week and she knew I would be interested.

That was about 3 weeks ago and just freaked the hell out of me.

STOP INVADING MY PRIVACY.............................

I am so irritated that my mail box, my telephone, my email accounts are all abused by people/companies trying to sell their wares!

I think I have to leave this place.
