http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/stories.pl?ACCT=104&STORY=/www/story/04-05-2005/0003332122&EDATE=WASHINGTON, April 5 /PRNewswire/ -- The Center for Public Integrity will reveal the findings of an exhaustive report on the state of federal lobbying in the United States at a press conference this Thursday, April 7, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. EDT in the First Amendment Room of the National Press Club in Washington, DC.
Among the findings to be discussed:
* The money spent on federal lobbying since 1998 -- far more than was spent on federal financing of political campaigns;
* Revolving door data: lobbyists who used to work in government;
* What lobbyists are required to disclose about themselves and how often they actually do; and
* The millions of tax dollars spent on lobbying by states, local
governments and school boards.
The Center will also unveil a searchable online database of every
registered lobbyist, every client of lobbyists, the issues that are lobbied, the agencies that are lobbied and the government officials involved in the revolving door system.
