My how big of you. To an extent. That is high praise indeed. Unions are the only reason that ANY worker (yes, even a non union one) has a forty hour work week. That's just the beginning.
in my local county. Our community has been supported for years by Daimler-Chrysler, until they sold out to Metaldyne a year ago. There are many unhappy citizens here and they think the union sold them out and did not do enough to keep Daimler in town.
7. How would they be "the kiss of death on small towns"?
I've gathered from other messages you are posing this question in order to answer that claim on some other board. Does the person(s) saying this explain how unions would be a "kiss of death"?
There are plenty of small towns where unions were the "kiss of life", where employees of nearby factories or mines gained more pay under safer working conditions thanks to their unions. This meant more to spend in their communities, and in some cases the end of "company stores" eliminated unfair competition to local shopkeepers.
