Man Convicted Of Tricking Men To Strip (up to 16yrs prison)
Man Convicted Of Tricking Men To Strip

INDIANAPOLIS -- Prosecutors offered a man convicted of tricking men into stripping by posing as a radio disc jockey a plea agreement that would send him to prison for up to 16 years.

The agreement would allow 41-year-old Richard C. Brown to avoid trial on 14 charges for similar incidents involving seven more men, the Marion County Prosecutor's Office said Thursday.

Superior Court Judge Mark Stoner said Brown had until Friday to accept the plea agreement. If he does not, Brown would face an April 18 pretrial hearing on the other charges.

Jurors on Wednesday convicted Brown of six felonies, including three counts of criminal confinement and three counts of identity deception.

2. And the moral of the story is... don't take your clothes off for
creepy strangers wearing ankle bracelets, especially if you're alone in the house with them! I'm amazed anyone went along with this...

3. yeah, creepy but those guys that showed up - uh,
how are they any different from a jilted prostitute? They were willing to do the full monte for the right sum - they're equally culpable.

Oh gosh - they're MEN -- that makes it legal to go take your clothes off for someone if they pay you to do it and then be the injured party when you don't get paid. If these had been women who showed up to strip they would all be sitting in jail too on solicitation charges.

4. "Identity deception" is a general crime?
Whoa, wait a minute.

To the best of my knowledge (which comes from working as a P.I. a decade and a half ago), it's only illegal to pose as a police officer, an officer of the court, or a member of the clergy. Other than that, I was taught I could say I was whoever I wanted to ("Pizza delivery", "Candygram", etc...).

Did that change, or did he cross the line in some other way in regards to posing as a radio DJ?

After reading the full acount in the article, I have to say I agree with his defense attorney:

"Creepy? Absolutely -- but not criminal," she said.

5. How did they get "criminal confinement" out of that?
It doesn't seem there was anything confining any of those men. Two left after doing what the guy wanted, and one left without doing it -- pretty well eliminates the argument that they were being coerced.

6. I think the criminal confinement happened earlier (hence the
ankle bracelet). It would be interesting to know the story behind that charge!

7. Would it be illegal to go to a nude beach and trick men into
putting their clothes on?
