1. And the funny thing is, a grocery storechecker took it as legal cash
Hmmm . . . Maybe they should pay their workers more or just accept what they get.

3. Food Lion - the store that was busted by 48 Hours for selling rotten meat.
I guess they have rotten cashier trainers as well.

4. They do

I can say this with certainty, being a Food Lion cashier. I got about 3 hours, if that, of "training" before they let me loose on a "real" register. Sheesh.

There are several things they do make sure to pound into our heads, however:

1. If you don't check a $50 or $100 for being counterfeit and it is, it's your fault
2. If you don't follow proper check procedures and it's bad, it's your fault
3. If you don't check ID on a cigarette sale and something bad happens, it's your fault

Can't say I blame the cashier, if I'd been at work for long enough (say, on a six hour shift where I get only a ten minute break,) the possibility of that kind of a dupe would be completely out of my mind. Sure, I can say now that I'd probably notice, but not for certain.

One thing I'm sorry I didn't see is the book keeper's face when he or she was picking up cash out of the cashier's till and saw that in there. Though, just imagining it is giving me chuckles.

6. The Same Thing Happened In Danville, KY
A couple of years ago. Someone drove to the local Dairy Queen to buy a breakfast biscut and got back $196 and some change. Same bill too.
