Anti-Capitalist (Thanks Sean)
Anti-anti-Semitism
Pro workers rights
Pro health care (Anti-contraception contradicts this somewhat)
Pro welfare
Pro religous bridging

BAD
Anti-gay
Anti-women
Anti-contraception
Anti-abortion
Anti-stem cell research
Pro-celibacy (thanks Hoping4Change)

2. Bad teachings: Anti-Liberation Theology, Anti-marriage for priests.
His anti-contraception stance did nothing to alleviate poverty or reduce suffering.

3. My one big beef with the religious
is the hypocrites. The Pope was not a hypocrite. He lived and taught the teachings of his faith. Even though I disagree with some of them, I understand them and the reasonings behind it.

For this reason I admire Jimmy Carter, but hate Tom Delay.
I hate Rudy Gulliani but admire the Pope.

"Don't tell me you are a Christian, let me know because of what you do."

4. That is SO true.
The Pope was the real thing. His views were very consistent from
a philosophical standpoint.

6. Thanks
I think that my biggest area of agreement with the Pope was his efforts against poverty.

My biggest disagreements are typical of the liberal Democrat: his stance on gays and women's rights.

But really, you hit on the head: The Pope was not a hypocrite. The Pope was not a whore like Fallwell and Robertson and those slime-balls.

9. The Pope's Hypocrisy
The Poop spoke-out against anti-Semites. HOWEVER...

1) He nominated anti-Semites for sainthood, including some complicit in The Holocaust

2) He has refused to release adoption records of Jewish children rescued during The Holocaust and baptized by the church-- even if those children may have living relatives.

3) He speaks out against poverty, while still demanding that the most impoverished people not practice birth control.

4) He preached on the "evil" of homosexuality, yet he was complicit in covering-up the sexual abuse of children within the church. He even promoted those responsible to cushy positions in The Vatican.

In the interest of fairness though, here are things I like about The Poop:

1) He pardoned Galileo.

2) He conceded that Evolution is almost certainly true but urged that God en-souled Man during the natural course of the evolution of life.

3) He refused to say that The Shroud of Turin is real.

4) The old guy had the spunk to drag his barely animated corpse out of bed to wave at people.
