Bio of Father Frank Pavone, Schindler spokesman and anti-abortion activist
Edited on Thu Mar-31-05 07:27 PM by DeepModem Mom
Just saw Anderson Cooper interviewing Pavone on CNN, and asking him if he could now put aside his bitterness. He said that you couldn't put aside truth. Was this about Terri, or Fr. Pavone's agenda?

Father Frank A. Pavone

Fr. Frank Pavone was born in Port Chester, New York and has been active in the pro-life movement since 1976. He was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of New York by Cardinal John O’Connor in 1988. He served for five years as a parish priest in Staten Island, and taught theology at St. Joseph’s Seminary and other institutions.

In 1993, with the permission of Cardinal O’Connor, he became National Director of Priests for Life. In this full time position, he has traveled to all of the 50 states and to five continents, preaching and teaching against abortion and helping other priests to do the same.

He conducts seminars on pro-life strategy and is regularly invited to speak at national and international pro-life gatherings. Fr. Pavone is often quoted in papers such at the New York Times, the Washington Times, and other national media. He has produced television and radio programs for EWTN, The Odyssey Network, Catholic Family Radio, Vatican Radio, and other outlets. He has appeared on national broadcasts such as Hannity and Colmes and The O'Reilly Factor. His articles on pro-life issues are regularly published around the world. Under his guidance, the Priests for Life staff has grown to 45 full-time paid employees.

Fr. Pavone was asked by Mother Teresa to address the clergy of India on the life issues. He was also asked to speak to the pro-life caucus of the United States House of Representatives.

Norma McCorvey, the "Jane Roe" of the Supreme Court’s abortion decision Roe vs. Wade, called Fr. Pavone "the catalyst that brought me into the Catholic Church."

In 1997 he was asked by the Vatican to help co-ordinate pro-life activities throughout the world as an official of the Pontifical Council for the Family.

In 1999, the Daily Catholic named Fr. Pavone among the Top 100 Catholics of the Century. He serves on Dr. James Dobson's Focus on the Family Institute. He is the recipient, for the year 2001, of the Proudly Pro-life Award of the National Right to Life Committee. In 2002, in recognition of his pro-life work, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the Franciscan University of Steubenville. In 2003, Fr. Pavone was elected to be the President of the National Pro-life Religious Council, a coalition of groups from many different denominations working to end abortion.

3. He just lied before God and everyone else
when he said MS kicked the Schindlers out of Terri's room so they could not be there for her death.

11. But what's one lie in service of God's will?
That's the perspective, isn't it?

9. Sure they'll be there a year from now............
It will take that long for the $$$$$ to come in from the books and the movies. Between now and then, they'll keep getting interview spots, between the terrorists, Hollywood divorces, Jack-O, etc.

After all that plays out and the books move to the bargin tables, finally we get a break.

5. Fr. Pavone has ensured that I will NEVER darken the door of a Church again
His statement about "merciless cruelty and his sneering interview as well as a refusal to retract usage of the word "murder' in regard to Michael Shiavo has completely obliterated any last vestige of respect I had for the church. If he isn't censured or disciplined for such behavior, The Church must be endorsing him. I wanted to punch his lights out.

6. Wouldn't it be nice if he took all his energy instead to help the poor
to go down to a child care center and help care for children while their mothers go to work.

To go to prisons and teach illiterate prisoners to read.

To help prepare and serve food at a "soup kitchen."

you know...if he could actually act like Jesus.

7. Father Pavone seems to be out of sync with Jesus's teaching.
Jesus taught to offer up the other cheek, forgive your enemies and those who hurt you before you come to ask for forgiveness, and FORGIVENESS is the central teaching of the Christ Jesus.

Father Pavone seems to be full of vitriol and unforgivenness and how can he even hold the Body of Christ in the form of a Host in his hands I don't know--but then again, the Christ is about Forgivenness.

8. Like everyone else who has jockeyed for
face time since this mess began, he is simply trying to promote his agenda. It was never about Terri.

10. So He's One of the "Top 100 Catholics of Century" - Did Father COUGHLIN
make the list? Google only dribbles out one or two of the "Top 100" at a time, not a whole list.
