2. Their rhetoric is based on lies (Terri was "disabled") and is dangerous.
They want to overhaul the Judiciary even more now!

PUHLEEEZ! He or his brother should have gone in to save her. In my view, he had the authority and DUTY to UPHOLD the Constitution and failed miserably. WORDS ARE CHEAP. ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS. THE PRESIDENT DID NOT TAKE ENOUGH ACTION!!!!

Doesn't he mean - suspend the Constitution?

4. Good.
Let them implode so far and with such force and rapidity that they form a black hole whose event horizon is very selective and only sucks frothing reactionaries into it, then expells them into another dimension in the form of sun-baked dog turds.

5. I seriously have a hard time caring about the rants of 'people' who drool
all over themselves and whose knuckles drag the ground when the walk. The average I.Q. is in the single digits and the last time they had anything worth while to say was, uhhhmmmm, it was, ah, NEVER.

29. Their web site is very 1998.
But it is simple and functional.

FR used to be more interesting. There were some vigorous debates about the then impending war in Iraq, back in 2002. More lately it seems that you are expected to support the president, especially regarding the war.

But they still tolerate a certain amount of dissent on FR; for example, FR has numerous anti-gay threads but these often have contrary posts sympathetic to gay people. FR has other running debates on issues such as creation/evolution and the limits of religion in public life. (FR has a strong libertarian contingent to balance its strong theocratic contingent.)

This week the FReepers were very exercised about the ugly threads on DU about Falwell. They took these as evidence that the people on this board are hateful and hypocritical. But I noticed today that someone on FR was impressed that the Shiavo threads on DU were respectful of the unfortunate woman; this was in reply to another poster who supposed DU would be gloating over her death.

I used to read FR a lot. But I got very tired of the nasty war-mongering, and I got real tired of the barrage of anti-gay crap. I occasionally look at FR to see what the other side is thinking; and I look there if there is something ominous happening, especially of a military nature, since there are a lot of knowledgeable military people on FR.

14. loons to the last!
in the few minutes I spent reading these nutjobs, I found this...

"If a low-level judge has more power to take a life than the president and governor have to save a life, we have no constitutional rights.

The judges are now the supreme branch of government."

This idiot is calling for the end of due process!

These people have NO clue as to how this nation governs itself!

24. They're not talking about a president
They're talking about the life and death power of a king or dictator.

Of course both Bush, and now Rumsfeld have said it would be much easier to have a dictatorship.

22. You know...this is only the second time I've looked
at a thread from FR and I have to say it makes me sick! How do you guys do it? I read two pages of what they had to say and was totally dumbfounded by the idiocy over there. This gets me back to what I always say...the key to everything is education. Those people are so uneducated I don't even know what to say. All that talk about Elian? Was it better for him to stay here as a political magnet or go back to his father? Are all the freepers pissed because now Elian has Castro as a friend? And what in the H does that have to do with Terri? As for their understanding of the checks and balances in our governement? Well, like I said, they are totally uneducated. Personally, I think the problem is in letting local school boards decide what is taught. There are certain things that all children should be taught...period...like history (the stuff I learned in college, not the propaganda I got in grade school - Custer was not a hero, and the Lusitania did too have weapons and arms on it), civics, sociology, and maybe even a comparative religions class or something. Oh, not to mention sex ed...but that's another discussion...

25. This says it all
If a low-level judge has more power to take a life than the president and governor have to save a life, we have no constitutional rights. The judges are now the supreme branch of government.

You are exactly right. I don't know about the Florida state constitution, but if it's anything like the U.S. Constitution, the Executive branch has the enforcement power. In Andrew Jackson's day, the courts passed some law (I forget the details) that Jackson didn't want. He said, "great, they've had their say, now let them enforce it." If Florida's constitution is made up the same way, Jeb Bush should have just called the police and said, "stand down". I'm not sure Pres. Bush had the authority (states rights isssues), but I do believe Gov. Bush probably did. It's time people understand that the executive branch is the enforcer of laws, not the judicial branch. If the judiciary didn't like Gov. Bush's non-enforcement of their order, they could appeal to the legislative branch for impeachment, with 2/3's majority needed. Again, assuming the Florida constitution is like the U.S. Constitution. Somebody please tell me if I'm wrong.

So.so.so.clueless.

Plus, that Andrew Jackson thing? Led to the Trail of Tears. GREAT EXAMPLE. They're so uninformed about their talking points and the way our government is supposed to work.
