Go, Amy, Go!!! Amy of Democracy Now on Hardball
great points being made.

This small band of protestors in Florida are getting thousands of hours of press face time, yet war protestors get zilch, nothing, nada.

5. She said the real reason"An extremely conservative media"
Yes...that is EXACTLY why the GOP has gotten away with so much over the last ten years.

More than conservative, the media is fascist and they will support the fascist idealists at every turn. That is the ONLY reason BushInc remains in power. His media protectors who will NOT report the truth to the American people.

13. The media are indeed important but not as much as the DREs.
Edited on Wed Mar-30-05 08:21 PM by Stevepol
It's the voting machines that won the election for Bush, not the people. Kerry won the election by 5-7M votes I believe, on the basis of good evidence, and unless something is done about the machines, there's no chance for a Dem to be elected to anything in 06 and 08 where there's even a chance of the Repub winning. Of course you can fuhgeddabout the presidency in 08. The machines will see to it. They're clearly rigged. Rather than campaign among the people, Dems would be better advised to try to get in to see the Urosevic brothers or some of the programmers at Diebold, Jeffrey Dean maybe, who is probably still serving as a consultant if he's not back in the slammer for embezzlement by falsifying computer data. They're the only ones whose vote matters.

15. They go hand in hand. The media PROTECTS the voting machine scams the
GOP has going. Any REAL media would have tailed the voting machine story as the story of the century by now.

BOTH issues need to be exposed....the GOP controls MOST of the media and MOST of this nation's voting machines.

14. Amy Goodman is about as sharp as they come.
I have so much repect for her because she comes armed with facts and doesn`t back down to rabid rightwingers. One of the best tools in her truth kit is her ability to get to the heart of the matter even if it means cutting through a virtual landslide of rightwing talking points. Every single time she speaks she makes the opposition look foolish.

Democracy Now is where I get my national and international news every weeknight. I wouldn`t watch corporate media "news" again if you paid me.

Indeed, Amy Goodman rocks! I met her a couple of weekends ago in Miami at the Dissent since 9-11 symposium given by Partners in Protest. It was such an honor to meet her and everyone should read her book The Exception to the Rulers. She really is one of very few real journalists around.

21. She spoke to a standing-room only crowd last night in Houston.
She is an excellent speaker -- full of facts, stories, compassion, and wry humor.

If you get a chance, go hear her at an event. She is just starting another 50 cities. Details at www.democracynow.org
