What's the timeline with Ward Churchill anyway?

I have not paid close attention to the Ward Churchill thing. As far as I know he has been around for a while, and in 2001 wrote a piece people didn't like. Fast forward to 2005. Now, as I said, I have not paid a lot of attention to this. As far as I can see, suddenly, something that was published a few years ago gets held up by Bill O'Reilly who was complaining he was speaking at some event somewhere. Then conservatives in the state try to oust him from his job, something that is still ongoing. He has already been demoted at his job.

Did I miss something, but how come there's a few years of time lapse between what he published and this sudden call for his scalping? I have not paid that close attention. Did something happen, or did they just figure this is an opportune time to hit him up?

For myself, I feel like wretching when I read qualified support for him, or this New Republic type back-and-forth expiation. When I read this I think, these people should either support him, or denounce him, or keep their mouth shut - in public anyhow.

Yes Churchill has been around for forever. Yes, he wrote the essay RIGHT after 911 and I bet you didn't know this part, but it was posted in the paper not long after it was written. Excerpts of it were posted anyway and the Eichmann statement was in there. It got NO attention whatsoever. I read it though and thought he made some damn good points.

Anyway fast forward to just before our, oh so pleasant, last election cycle and an anonymous do-gooder calls the Secret Service on a nice quiet group of HS kids planning on singing an old Bob Dylan song in their little HS talent show. All hell broke loose over that one! Rhetoric was unbelievable on both sides!

Next the election. Many complaints over poll workers sending minorities on a wild goose chase for their polling place. I witnessed my vote jump and a few other unsavory things at a place it never should have happened in. I fixed my vote before it was tallied (I think, but who knows) The machine was obviously jumpy, I barely even put my finger on the machine before it registered my vote for George W. Bush!

Anyway, back to the saga. Fast forward, once again, to Christmas. We have this parade every year in downtown Denver. It has been a secular event since it's inception nearly 50 years ago. Out of the blue, a crazy fanatical, cultist, church group starts whining on a daily basis about the fact they were told they could not have a float in the parade. "But it's about Jesus, not Santa" they said. Day after day, after day, this went on. Meanwhile the paper prints a tiny little story on a double digit number page saying the damn church had been told 6 FREAKING MONTHS prior to the event they could not have their float in the parade! They were told the parade was a secular, all-inclusive event.

Boom, then in comes another wave of rhetoric. This time it's the Churchill thing, you know the story so I'll skip it.

Just this past Friday. I believe, they decided NOT to punish Churchill for the essay BUT NOW they are investigating him for OTHER things that have come to light. Things that if the damn school had done a thorough investigation when they freaking hired him wouldn't even be an issue right now. They claim the investigation could take as long as seven months. The allegations, BTW, are plagiarism. I don't think they have much merit, but Churchill does seem to use allot of other peoples lines in his works. He usually gives credit to the author or uses quotes, but I haven't read a ton of his work so I can't be sure. The other allegation is that he lied about his Indian heritage to gain special access to funds and the like. This is THE one I think they are going to get him on, BUT again, THEY should have investigated his claims and, quite frankly, he DID tell them he had no evidence of his heritage just his mothers word.

Anyway, what the rest of the nation doesn't realize is that this one damn church is right in the middle of this shit! They are the entire reason this whole mess has come to light. All of the messes including another CU scandal involving football players, coaches, prostitutes alcohol, and misappropriated funds have been instigated by their members. They HATE CU with a passion because they consider it a "liberal" college. I thought ALL colleges promoted liberal values because they are institutions of learning, but what do I know?

The members of this church are VERY disturbing individuals. The church was founded by the richest, dirtiest, car dealer, turned real estate developer in the state. He has tried to protest the building of certain rental/commercial properties so that he can then turn around and force those developers into buying property HE owns!

You have no idea what it has been like to live among these nut cases! I can't even go to Burger King without having to listen to them rant and rave about religion anymore! I have lived in this area for most of my life and I truly feel like I'm in "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" EVERY time I frequent a local business. These people have their hands in every freaking pot available to them. Christan music is piped into MOST of the local businesses and if I choose to engage in political talk at a local restaurant I am immediately the center of attention, if you know what I mean? You can literally watch them watching you! It's horrifying!

I have NO doubt whatsoever, THEY are behind the Churchill matter!
If Churchill is right about anything, he's right about that, but he's smart enough NOT to allude to the church by name. They have made death threats against him. His statements are clear enough to those of us who live around here! We know what he means!

News. Living here I have not had any need for a timeline but believe me EVERYBODY knows whose behind this mess. We just don't talk about them much. The church will deny every bit of it and other than the Christmas story there is no evidence that is is the case as far as I can tell. it's not like they publicly announce their attempts to take over the world but anyone that has witnessed these people and what they will do in the name of God knows they are driving this mess.
