Seriously, there's a whole lot of world going on right now and our media has given the American Taliban a 24 hours a day megaphone. What else in this wide world has been happening? I'm afraid I've missed something of substance that we all should perhaps be paying more attention to.

Anyone have anything to contribute?

P.S. Please let this women die in peace. This entire sad episode makes me certain of something: When I die my sole request beyond no artificial sustenance will be not to be made a martyr for someone else's lost cause. If I die in the next act of terrorism, I am not a helpless victim. The war will not be waged in my name. If life support must end, no humanly given right overrides the inevitability of death. No anti-democratic movement can coopt my death in the name of a theocracy. This would disgrace every aspect of my being who lived before death. Who are we to say this 24 hour a day spectacle is what Terri would do or want? I'm not sure it makes sense to even ask, dare I say, what would Terri Schiavo do?

Democracy is under attack, yes, but it seems to be weathering the storm. Most republicans who ironically could be allies on this subject even reject the latest attack by the anti-democratic wing of the republic. These people are fringe groups who just happen to have TV camaras and three schmo's in the senate.

I just want to know what's been going on in let's say Iraq, or has anyone been following those new aircraft carriers we sent to the region? Wasn't there some issue with social security we were worrying about last week? We've been threatening Venezuala lately haven't we? Medicare seems to be crumbling, what's up with that?

and what my country has done, and continues to do are things my mind cannot see. As hard as i may try to learn and get a grip it keeps on coming. i thought if i could isolate one thing, and really examine it closely i would understand. But i never know what is real anymore...like Osama...who is he, really? What is the strategy in the Middle East now, after we've murdered so many Arabs? Who is in our government, and how can this be happening? Can someone be a decent human being and be wealthy at the same time? How long before the consequences for what we've done will be felt?
