snip..
Sounding like a candidate, he said without hesitation, "I think I have a tremendous amount to offer this country, a lifetime of public service and leadership."

Clark, 58, a career military man who headed the U.S. Southern Command and was NATO commander during the 1999 campaign in Kosovo, said a vice presidential slot is not on his mind, though he won't rule it out.

"Let's be honest," Clark said, "When you haven't ever been in elective office before and you've commanded companies, battalions, a brigade, a division and (been) supreme allied commander in Europe, and somebody asks you to stand for elective office - it is about the presidency. "That is the decision that is here. They don't have primaries for the vice presidency."

snip..
Clark, whose calendar includes a speech in Iowa late next week, said he will announce his intentions within "the next few days probably," most likely in his home state of Arkansas.

"It just seemed to me if I was going to go to Iowa, I probably ought to know what I was doing before I went there," he said. (more)

1. But, he IS running for VP!
I mean, everyone who I don't like as much as my #1 choice, that's what they're doing, they're running for VP.

Just because he was SUPREME COMMANDER of a tank or two doesn't mean that he can fundraise or fly on planes and give speeches. How do we know he won't mix up his speaking schedule, one day end up in Duluth when he's supposed to be in St. Paul? Let him get some experience having steak frys, and shaking hands first. I mean, does he know to eat, and THEN shake hands? After he does these "political things", I think we'll be able to see whether he is competent to do the job.

2. :o) Clark is saying what we Clarkies have been saying...
He's running for the top job. But if he doesn't prevail he'll help the party and run at the bottom of the ticket if asked.

3. who runs for VP
:) heh
Thats rarely ever a factor, only time where deciding the VP was real important was 1944, the democratic party leaders knew FDR was dying and needed a sucessor, they had three main choices: Truman(moderate but progressive if you think about it), Wallace(progressive), and Brynes? who was a southerner and a sergationist. Thank god they chose Harry, altough Henry Wallace would had been good too. Running for VP we dont even have a nominee yet :).

5. I agree with Kahuna...
I'm about a decade older than you and sometimes I'm surprised at your control of history, etc.

Plus, you're always so nice and don't get riled up.

A+ for you!
