to show how absurd the polling is.

Let them come up with 92% for no UN involvement. It would completely invalidate the poll because everyone - every single person on earth - knows that 92% of any nationality does not think the US should take the reins.

If we beef up the real answer to the conscience of the public (for the UN), we are giving credence to the resulting, lower answer for the United Stats to take control.

Yeah, I am voting for the US to take total control. What the hell.

(PS: is Arafat still alive and kicking? Seems he made it through that critical 24 hours. Good.)

The UN does not exist to clean up PNAC's messes or to bail the Administration out of hot water that it has created. Iraq is an American problem. America broke it, America bought it.


More pragmatically, the Iraq tarbaby has two major benefits. First, Shrub's popularity will suffer the longer the occupation drags on. Second, the US can't launch any more land grabs while its troops are tied down in Iraq. These are both very Good Things.
