Clark & Spielberg!
From the Washington Post:

Non-candidate Wesley Clark continues his non-campaign with dedication nonpareil. The retired Army general, edging toward a Democratic presidential bid, attended a luncheon party in his honor held by Steven Spielberg in Los Angeles last weekend. Clark aide Mark Nichols would not say what the event was, but he did say what it was not. "It was not a fundraiser," Nichols said. "He is not a candidate."

Is there a limit to the money you can collect from donors (er... friends) if you have not yet declared?

Could a few dozen people "give" Clark a few million dollars and have it not count if it occurs before he announces? JUst curious!

2. Was he given funds for his birthday?
...with cards that said, "spend this on something nice for yourself" wink wink!

3. That is interesting...
At this point we're working on pledges, right? When is a fundraiser not a fundraiser? When you're not raising funds.

4. I Would Be SHOCKED
If Clark left that function -- undoubtedly packed to the gills with the Hollywood elite -- with anything less than a verf* of pledges.

A meet and greet hosted by Spielberg. Not bad. I hope Spielberg invited lots of rich ladies to the party. }(

7. Oh baby
I've been waiting years for Spielberg to *direct*
his considerable clout, wealth, and humanity towards
the ultimate good cause of saving the planet from the
goose-stepping motherfuckers. I mean, most of the super
rich people are Repugs, but there are a few like Spielberg.

I hope there are enough Spielbergs to fund a counter-coup.

It pretty much sucks to find oneself hoping that
private money can help us out of the mess that
private money in politics caused.
But, reality sucks.

8. Clark is a Rhodes scholar, liberal leaning and wants to work with the rest
of the world....To me that's a great reason to want him as president...I've like him since I first saw him speaking out against the Iraq war....He doesn't hold back when asked his opinions....

10. He?
This looked like a newspaper "gossip" blurb to me. And there were apparently a decent number of people at this event. Why do you assume Clark orchestrated this story?
