Was the Swedish FM Assasinated and by Whom?

Swedish Papers Say Photos Are of Assassin
By KARL RITTER Associated Press Writer

STOCKHOLM, Sweden (AP) - Swedish tabloids on Saturday published pictures they claimed showed video surveillance images of a man sought by police in the stabbing death of Foreign Minister Anna Lindh.
Swedish police declined to comment on the authenticity of the pictures and protested their leaking to the media, saying it could jeopardize the investigation.

"I don't know where the pictures come from," police spokesman Mats Nylen Nylen said. "It is deplorable if they are authentic pictures because they could affect witnesses consciously and subconsciously."
The pictures published in Aftonbladet and Expressen showed a man wearing a blue cap and a gray sweater with the sleeves rolled up. His face was blurred.

Police seized footage from surveillance cameras at the department store where Lindh was stabbed in her chest, stomach and arms Wednesday. They said the footage was from the floor above the attack. Cameras did not capture the attack itself.
Police spokesman Leif Jennekvist on Friday said the footage was grainy, but would be shared with police departments around the country and possibly shown to witnesses.

1. but wouldn't it be odd to go after a Euro supporter?
Edited on Sat Sep-13-03 09:57 PM by lostnfound
odd, yes..but it does appear that it has made pro-Euro votes more likely. Still, it would be far-fetched conjecture (of which there is little need, since the world's replete with documented examples).

For Chomsky readers: I have thought that Sweden as a successful nearly-socialist country was setting an awfully bad example..

Makes me angry, anyway, whoever did it: I like the Swedes, and Stockholm; and Ms. Anna Lindh had two sons still in school, I think.

17. "Nearly socialist"
Sweden does have a remarkable social services system and an "enviable standard of living" (according to the CIA), but it is a constitutional monarchy. The Swedish king is the head of state. Although the Social Democrats are the largest party, they only got about 40% of the vote in the last election. If Sweden even has a Socialist party, it's apparently a negligible quantity.

Similar situation applies in Holland, another EU monarchy.

2. They were about to vote on the "euro" and I understand she was
very much "for" it but most people were against it. They didn't think it had anything to with it. What amazed me is that they said at first her injuries were not life threatening. I guess not now, she's dead............

3. I would say...
That he is a part of the same group that killed Olaf Palme.

Something is rotten north of Denmark.

11. GrassWire Really! I suspected that too! Sweden is a Socialist country
of which is a remarkable acheivemnet of Socialism

I do know she had ties with Iran. And that would make Bush very angry!

I also believe that the European Union will be very powerful and majorly compete with the United States for power. It seems a way of sabotaging the power of the European Union

Could you imagine if Blair would have been its Head :puke:

5. The Euro is a huge threat to US hegemony.
Bush has been trying to sabotage everything European. US RW'ers aren't upset by this death.

US Democrats are for a strong Europe. Clinton spent a lot of time trying to help the EU get going. (His NI work was intended to clear the decks for a unified Europe.)

European RW'ers who depend on US RW'ers for their power, like Murdoch and like arms dealers hate the Euro. However, liberals and pro-European business conservatives in Europe like the Euro (except for the banks, which don't like the Euro).

...think Bush had her killed.

No one could offer any rationale for it, but that's what they think. Fuck - everyone hates us, and I don't blame them.

Maybe because it's probably true.

9. bush palme
From the Bush Body Count web site:

Olof Palme
He was the prime minister of Sweden, assassinated in 1986. Oliver North, the golden boy of the Bush/Reagan machine, had met with Mr. Palme to discuss the possibility of obtaining false end-user certificates for the plethora of weapons that were being purchased, so that they would seem to have come from a country other than the U.S. Mr. Palme refused to participate, after the plan was presented to him. He was dead within weeks.

And from David Ickes' site

http://davidicke.www.50megs.com/icke/magazine/vol5/bush/bush17.htm

Some see Bush's alleged connections to Licio Gelli's P-2 lodge as relevant to the assassination of Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme on February 28, 1986. According to Barbara Honegger's mysterious informant "Y", on February 25, 1986, just a few days before Palme was killed, Licio Gelli, who was then in Brazil, sent a message to Philip Guarino, a former official of the Republican National Committee telling him that "the Swedish tree will be felled," along with a request to "tell our good friend Bush." Palme, at the time of his death, was aware of the participation of Swedish arms companies in weapons deliveries to the Khomeini regime within the framework of what later became known as Iran-contra.

On July 2, 1990, the first program (Tg-1) of RAI Television, the Italian government-sponsored network, broadcast an interview by journalist Ennio Remondino with Ibrahim Razin and Richard Brennecke, a former US intelligence agent who has become well known in connection with his allegations concerning the 1980 October Surprise. Here Razin repeated the account of the message from Gelli to Guarino and Bush just summarized. Brennecke added that US intelligence agencies provided the P-2 lodge with funding in the amount of $10 million per month for gun-running, drug-running, and destabilization. In the wake of this telecast, President Francesco Cossiga, the psychologically unstable Italian chief of state, demanded that Prime Minister Giulio Andreotti investigate these charges. Cossiga was indignant that both the US government and George Bush had been accused of these heinous crimes. Andreotti's investigation was a superficial one and certainly did not disprove any of the charges, leaving the matter hanging.

10. Stabbing like that is an untidy method of assassination...
and has a high risk of being apprehended by bystanders. Why not shoot her or run her over in a Volvo?

Personally, I don't think it was a conspiracy.

14. I have no idea, but
the killer is said to have known how to inflict maximum damage with his stabs, and he coolly walked away until stunned bystanders thought to pursue, and still escaped. Doesn't sound like a madman or a random act.

I don't know who did it or if there's anyone behind the killer. But I see some papers reporting that the killing was not politically motivated, and it seems ridiculous to assert that at this stage.

to disappear into. Witnesses call cops and say, murder in the linens department. How fast do cops arrive?

15. Touche, friend
But I will comment on the fact that the Rams will win tomorrow.

Still no comment on the universal hit squad that is responsible for many of the deaths on the planet. I must keep quiet or I may be next.

Like I posted before, the Bob Hope hit really brought it home.

Be careful.

18. "This whole Big Plan"
Edited on Sun Sep-14-03 02:29 AM by Paschall
And what "plan" would that be, Nottingham?

I don't suppose it would be "THE GRAND CHESSBOARD - American Primacy And It’s Geostrategic Imperatives," by Zbigniew Brzezinski, which is generally recognized as the neo-con Bible on foreign policy, no?

If I'm not mistaken, Brzezinski was no ally of the European Union, nor was his argument designed to further the Union.
