20. I hope they reject it too but
it's a different situation this time. I beleiev that the last time they rejected it because it was outside of federal jurisdiction. Not so this time.

4. Hasn't the SC refused to hear the case several times already?
At least that is the impression I got from casual listening in the past few days.

5. Kennedy rejected the Elian case and he supports Roe v Wade
Edited on Wed Mar-23-05 10:00 AM by JI7
i expect he will reject this one also based on Roe and Elian cases which are some of the more famous ones.

maybe if someone can or wants to do a research on his decisions and opinions on other issues we might get an idea of whether he will reject the case.

26. Yes, but he can (& probably will) ask the whole court to decide
-and better hope it is not 5-4, because it only takes 4 votes to grant cert take a case.

30. "cert", abbreviation for "certiorari" - just means they agree to take the
case. Takes 4 votes and SCOTUS usually does not grant cert in these kinds of cases (state law and definitive rulings the highest state court - Bush v Gore was a huge exception, of course).

28. Four votes would mean they WILL take the case (grant cert)
It only takes the positive votes of four justices to grant cert - meaning, take the case. But given Scalia's bias toward state's rights, Bush v. Gore aside, I don't think he would vote yes, so I think they will not get four votes.

The lead lawyer for Ms. Schiavo's parents, David Gibbs, said this morning that an appeal was being prepared to the Supreme Court. "We anticipate having it filed later today," he said.

18. Terri is Dead, she is an "Awake Corpse", brain-stem function only.
Edited on Wed Mar-23-05 10:10 AM by sam sarrha
her conscious brain died 15 years ago... they get down in her face so it looks to the cameras like she is looking at them.

these people need counseling, they are tormenting a living Corpse.

this can cause 'grasping or attachment' in the disembodied spirit, resulting in a 'wandering spirit' lost in the Bardo for eons, or a very unfortunate rebirth.

32. Sort of off topic but not really
You should all have a living will to prevent this from happening to you in the event of a catastrophic illness. A living will very simple to do and your wishes will then be followed.

38. I made a living will in 1999
just pulled it out and re-read the thing. I just sent my two adult children an email informing them where I keep it. I was going to give them copies, but if they don't have the original I don't think this would this would stand up in court. My daughter knows where I had this originated and they have their master copy.
