why do democrats still waste time with the "main stream media"
first of all there is nothing that they say on the television media or right wing radio media that you don't know, and if you need to know you can obtain it through the internet, written media, or liberal medium

If we represent 50% of the viewing public, and stopped watching CNN, FOX, MSNBC, etc, they couldn't use us for their stooge

A perfect example was the inane vote on the Terri Schiavo case. If the democrats in the house of representatives didn't even show up, they could NOT have a quorum, and the message would have been loud and clear, the government should stay out of people's private lives

If the democrats didn't show up on main stream media shows, that would send an even stronger message, we will not play your game, and as long as you misrepresent us, and lie for the other side, you can do it without us

1. amen
I don't get it either.

I for one kicked the MSM jones the day after the election.

The tar is almost gone fom my brain. Feels good. Food tastes better. Colors seem brighter too. :)

2. Please call it corporate media
For many Americans to be "mainstream" is a good thing.

5. Completely Agree
The myth of bias is telling to either side of the table. We truly have to be concerned with the spin from the "corporate media" used purely to entertain the masses and keep their ratings.

Ugh. They should turn off the hype. Until then, let's keep tuned into our unbiased resources as mentioned in this thread : Internet and good ol' CSPAN/2.

unbiased print and radio we have left. Going on network and cable tv only gives them the appearance of validity.

Edited to add: LSDemocrat is correct, 'corporate media' is a more accurate term. 'Mainstream' America is leaving network and cable news in droves.

4. Actually, in the House, a quorum is 50%.

Do some research.

Moreover, self-identified liberals are 16% of the US population. The vast majority of Democrats self-identify as centrist or moderate. If we stopped watching MSM, the only difference would be that they'd have to stop occasionally covering the liberal side of the issue.

If the Dems didn't show up on talk shows, nobody would care. It would just mean more face time for the Republicans.

6. I don't anymore.
My stepdaughter got annoyed with me because she couldn't get through to me as I was on line early in the morning everyday. I explained to her that this was how I got my news these days because the corporate media couldn't be trusted to report everything that was important and be truthful about it.

I recommend that everyone turn off the cable and broadcast news and get your news from the internet. Once you bookmark your favorite websites and editorial writers, it's very smooth going and you will be pleased with the level of information you attain.
