My LTTE and new bumper stickers about the religious right.
Dear Editor:

I am mighty tired of my fellow Christians alternately ignoring and perverting Jesus' peaceful teachings to further their own hateful ends. Many would do well to remember the verse "judge not, lest ye be judged." Let go of the hate. Get an eyeful of the Beatitudes.

My husband and I left organized religion the day we heard a minister preach hate from the pulpit which ended with "after all, peace is overrated." I was stunned. This was the proverbial straw breaking that camel's back for us, as we had observed the hate from the pulpit and being whispered in the pews for a few years. I assured the minister after the sermon that Jesus would not agree that peace is overrated and that we would not return to that church, ever.

Sincerely,

XXXXXXX XXXXXXX
Dallas, Texas

And my bumper stickers. There are three. I am removing others to make way.

FELLOW CHRISTIANS:
JUDGE NOT, LEST YE BE JUDGED
LET GO OF THE HATE

1. There are a few churches left
where Christians who managed to get the point are still welcome.

I hope you find one. Good luck.

3. I'm glad you expressed your views in a LTTE.
It may be the only way that people get the message of the politicization of religion and its hate-filled rhetoric.

Thanks for sharing, BB!
