Tom Delay on MSNBC says "we will save Terry's life" over Easter weekend!
Edited on Fri Mar-18-05 01:13 PM by cyberpj
Calls out Boxer and pals in Senate for not caring.

Makes a Rovian appearance - SO SO SO well timed for Easter weekend so he looks like a "savior".

Man - this will really get the Evangelicals in an uproar!

We'll never get Delay now.

Democrats really SUCK at P.R. (which, it seems, is all that matters now.)

The Ten Commandments will be put on the White House lawn and Christian crosses will be put on all public buildings.

22. Corporate Media Feeding The Fundies
I can't tell the difference between CNNServative and the 700 Club these days. They're beating the drum to suck in as many red state viewers with a jaded and distorted presentation of this story.

They repeatedly show nearly 4 year old video, as if it's current, and I haven't seen a spokesperson for Michael Schaiavo or anyone defending this man from non-stop media assasination by the right wing.

Hate radio is simplifying and dumbing down this story further...making the echo chamber either louder...so that this personal tragedy-turned public spectacle, can be fodder for ratings and a media feeding frenzy. It's cheap, easy programming and beats having to do real news.

27. President's Statement on Terri Schiavo

From March 17, 225
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2005/03/2005031...

President's Statement on Terri Schiavo

The case of Terri Schiavo raises complex issues. Yet in instances like this one, where there are serious questions and substantial doubts, our society, our laws, and our courts should have a presumption in favor of life. Those who live at the mercy of others deserve our special care and concern. It should be our goal as a nation to build a culture of life, where all Americans are valued, welcomed, and protected - and that culture of life must extend to individuals with disabilities.

33. I Saw A Lot Of Edited Footage
They mix pictures like this is some sudden tragedy. Let me see...IIRC, the most popular photo they show is of a young Terri in 1989...16 years ago. Next is a video I saw dated 2001 where she appears to be responsive and sitting up. That one gets shown everywhere...and unless my calendar is different than others, that's 4 years. Fortunately Michael Schaivo has prevented cameras from anywhere near her and that's how it should remain...what is there isn't a pretty sight, no matter how much I really wish people could see it for the visceral effect.

One piece of footage I'm very suspect about was one they use showing the "feeding tube". The brief shot is of a tube inserted into a belly-button, and it's assumed this is Terri's. It isn't stated that's the case and the next cut is an edit to that 2001 video. Very, very misleading.

36. If it isn't obvious to those who call themselves "pro-life" but insist
they are Democrats who are the real "pro-life" people, are being strung around by "pro-lifers" after all these threads about Terri Schiavo and strung around by the religious nuts who have appeared out of the woodwork to jump on the Terri bandwagon, including one who has ties to white supremacy groups, I don't know what it will take to to get them to admit they have been fooled into adopting that meme.

Now, a known crook and a criminal, an immoral and unethical man, a Christian, has joined in the brouhaha and the plot widens to include smearing Boxer and the Democrats.

a political football for the republicans, and to think that christians would go along with this is tragic.

If the lord wanted her to live, she wouldnt need to be fed through an I.V. She can't even be fed real food, or even drink a baby bottle. My argument to the fundies is "This is not God's will, take the feeding tube out. If she suddenly can eat and drink then its the Lords will. Right now its just torture"

...and millions lose their health insurance, and some people die due to lack of good medical coverage, but DeLay can't be bothered to take action on any of those things.

Therefore, this claim that he's "caring" or "pro-life" is just hooey. He's just cynically exploiting a tragedy. GEE, WHAT A SURPRISE.

Parading Schiavo (or what's left of her) in front of the nation like this.

If the Dems have any spine whatsoever, if they're asked to vote on what to do with her, they'll stand up and walk out.

The only way to win this politically for them is to refuse to participate.

Call it the grandstanding BS it is.

Don't play the Repubs game on this one. It's a no-win.
