So I felt what seemed like an earthquake earlier today, but
couldn't find anything on the usual seismic websites. I assumed maybe Vandenberg AFB could be testing rockets again. Lately they seem to be doing it when the skies are overcast, like today, so that you can't see contrails.

I forgot about it until they mentioned it on the news just now and said that they couldn't get anyone at Vandenberg to comment on it. This seems to be happening a bit too regularly for my liking. They never used to be that secretive about these tests. What the hell is Rummy up to?

6. seismegraph registered 2.7 in florida last week, most unusual, and it was
thought to be the result of bombing at the "army's new vieques", avon park, florida. If they rock the earth enough with their bombs, they might just let loose another tsunami, this time on the florida coast! I don't know what is rocking your world out in california, but, would not doubt the goverment may be behind it!

3. Sounds like they're testing new aircraft and technology
Your tax dollars at work! We can find 101 ways to incinerate brown, yellow, and black people, but we seemingly can't find a way to give people better health care and education.

4. Well, I hope they aren't releasing health endangering
chemicals into the area with these tests. It makes me suspicious as to why they are being so secretive all of a sudden.

8. This isn't the first time. They were secretive with the stealth fighter
In the 1980s, many people mistakenly reported the F-117 as a UFO, and from certain angles, it does look like a flying saucer. If I remember correctly, it was supposedly tested at Area 51 before being deployed for use against Panama and later the Persian Gulf War.

14. Thanks but that's too far away for us to feel here. It wouldn't even
be felt in San Francisco, especially a small magnitude earthquake like that.

7. I get "shakemail" from the USGS. It's mostly automated
and therefore more reliable than humans reporting. :)

This isn't the precise link to the service (that one doesn't seem to be working, but will get you in the neighborhood.

(We live two blocks from the ocean. So, it behooves us to get early warnings on earthquakes.)

Don't know if USGS covers up weapons testing (don't forget, the Aurora stealth craft produces seismic activity as it passses overhead, but in v shaped patterns rather than radiating outward from a center; also, underground weapons testing is a possibility). All I know is that USGS is verrrry slow these days, and some quakes don't get reported by them AT ALL, but show up on the european sites.

scoff if you like

9. Santa Maria
Earthquakes are quite common in that area. Close to Vandenberg also. Not surprising they would be testing rockets.

15. It was actually the Santa Maria based TV news reporting.
They couldn't find any seismic activity either and couldn't get Vandenberg to admit anything. Vandenberg used to issue warnings before they tested but lately haven't and they seem to wait for overcast skies these days. I wonder if it's a new aircraft they don't want anyone to see yet like the stealth bomber?
