I've met Akaka and Inouye
Senator Akaka came to an event on Capitol Hill where my girlfriend was being honored. I met Inouye at the dedication ceremony to a new addition to Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park that doubled the size of the park. Inouye hasn't got many years left in him. I believe that Akaka is up for reelection in '06. I voted for Inouye in the last election. Tomorrow Senator Akaka will be getting a phone call from me telling him what I think about his vote on the ANWR bill, I will also be informing him that I will do everything within my power to see that he is not reelected.

1. Inouye Voted For Bush's Bankruptcy Prevention Bill.
I wonder what was he thinking. I was counting on Hawaii's Senators to always stand against the Rethugs.

2. Thanks, Goathead! Those would be
my future Senators..I would think there are a lot of Hawaiians who are pissed about the Pristine Alaskan Land.

If you get to talk to him..please tell him that there are many people out here on the Mainland who are devastated at his betrayal of Democratic Principles.

7. Still have a house there.
Gas prices here in Virginia just shot up to where they were when we first got to Hawai'i. $2.50 when I left Hawai'i a month and a half ago. $2.00 in Virginia now, I can't imagine what it must be in Hawai'i. It may be too expensive to go back to Hawai'i, I would have to ride my bike all over the place and grow my own food... On second thought, that wouldn't be so bad.:)

8. I'm going in about two or three
years. Live up at Fern Forest Estates on some property that my son bought and is going to build a little house on. I can't wait..really looking forward to the Volcanic Hot Springs, too!

And no..it wouldn't be so bad! B-) I hope you're able to go back if you want to.

6. Hawaii and Alaska have always had a weird relationship
Edited on Wed Mar-16-05 11:46 PM by Goathead
Ted Stevens supports the "Akaka Bill" recognizing native Hawaiians, the bill also has something to do with Alaska's native peoples. Native Hawaiians didn't even want the bill. http://stopakaka.com/2003/index.html

On edit: Ted Stevens supports the Akaka Bill but didn't co-sponsor it.
