2nd item on the page:AND SPEAKING OF ZOGBY... A new Zogby poll in Iowa released Thursday shows that Howard Dean is now leading there. Another independent poll two weeks placed Dean first in the state, but this now confirms Dean's lead. The numbers: Dean - 23%, Dick Gephardt - 17%, John Kerry - 11%, John Edwards - 6%, Joe Lieberman - 4%, Dennis Kucinich - 2%, and all others at 1% or less. Here are the changes since the April Zogby tracking poll: Dean up 17%, Edwards up 2%, Gephardt down 7%, Lieberman down 5%, Kerry down 2%, Kucinich down 1%, and the rest unchanged. Significantly in a state where labor is major force in the caucus voting, Dean now leads among labor union members. A Gephardt spokesman downplayed that factor, saying that Gephardt's labor base with strengthen as the January 2004 caucus date nears. In related news, Zogby also released numbers from a poll conducted for the Draft Gore Committee. The numbers purportedly show that Gore is in a virtual tie with President Bush (Bush - 48%, Gore - 46%), finishing within the margin of error. As for the Democratic nomination, the national poll shows that Gore would also lead the field: Gore - 25%, Dean - 16%, Lieberman - 12%, Kerry - 11%, Gephardt - 7%, and the rest trailing. Gore, however, recently restated his position that he will not run in 2004 -- and added that he expects to endorse one of the current candidates by the end of the year.Did I miss something?
