"RICHMOND, Va. Virginia health officials are stepping up their surveillance for avian flu.
The state is following federal recommendations and urging local health departments, hospitals and physicians to conduct enhanced surveillance for bird flu.
People with flu symptoms will be asked about any travel within the previous ten days to a country with documented cases of avian flu in poultry or humans. Most of the countries with recent cases are in Southeast Asia."
