Remember all the "It's YOUR MONEY" soundbytes about taxes?

Why then do we allow the repubes to get away with denying that all the FICA money that was deducted from us for YEARS doesn't matter?

All I hear on tv these days is about how SS is going broke, but NO ONE challenges these freaks about how middle and low income people have paid THEIR MONEY out of EVERY check for 40 years (and longer) and yet the money that was EXTRA in FICA for all those years was NOT our money??

Only INCOME TAX is "OUR MONEY" and deserves to be returned? They squealed like stuck piggies about "your money".."give it back", and when push came to shove the "OUR MONEY" that was given back, was really FICA money that people under 90K a year had been OVERPAYING for years..

Talk about a transfer of wealth....

Reagan's plan was JUST that in the 80's...beef up SS so that when the boomers did retire,. there would eb plenty of money..Ha!!

It's just like Grandma putting $50 a month into baby's piggy bank for college, only Mom & Dad are taking the money and putting IOUs in its place.. Wonder what college will accept a pile of papers iinstead of the cash...

Congress seems to be a place where stealing is a virtue...especially if the poorest among us are "giving it up" to the richest among them :(

Every penny from FICA all those years came directly from YOUR paychecks.. It was money that could have been invested in food, shelter, your kids' educations, but our government said "Trust us...you'll get all this back when you are old, and then some..."

So now we get more platitudes and promises, and no way to "get OUR money cback".. Why on earth would they expect us to trust them again. Does anyone really think that they are to be trusted to set up "private accounts"??

Lots of us will not be here when those "accounts" come due and payable, but you can bet on this.... There will be another "scheme" when that happens, and the money will not be there..

1. The GOP has forgotten that FICA is Federal Insurance, not Investment.

We paid the premiums on this policy for years; we bought it from a "company" that used to have an AAA+ rating (before * started destroying our national credit rating).

I paid my premiums in good faith, I want my insurance.
