Credit Unions ALSO pushing Bankruptcy "Reform" Bill
WTF?

Bankruptcy reform author lauds CU grassroots

WASHINGTON (3/4/05)--Bankruptcy abuse reform legislation, now being debated on the floor of the Senate, could not have moved as quickly as it did without the grassroots help of the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) and credit unions, the Senate bill's author stated in a letter this week.

Additionally, the letter states, Senate supporters of bankruptcy reform are relying on credit union grassroots strength to maintain forward motion for the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act (S. 256).

U.S. Sen. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) wrote to CUNA and the attendees of the just-finished Governmental Affairs Conference early this week that "my colleagues and I who firmly believe this legislation is necessary to correct the present imbalance in the bankruptcy system will again be relying on your grassroots strength to move the bill intact to the House, and then to the President for his signature."

I didn't realize the the association of credit unions was also pushing this piece of crap. These are grassroots, locally run, and who lend to the middle class.

Anyone here have an account at a credit union? Do we need to have our voices heard at the credit union association? Who in the hell did the republicans get to claim a 'grass roots' base of support from fucking CREDIT UNIONS on this piece of vapid, mean spirited legislation?
