Lay's trial will be late next fall or winter. It will drag on for several months. If he is found guilty, the sentencing will be scheduled for mid-November 2006, after the mid-term elections. Lay's Christmas present will be a full pardon from Bu$h. Why? Lay knows all about Cheney's secret Energy Task Force. The pardon will be the Bu$h regimes' side of a deal with Lay to keep those secrets secret. The regime doesn't want any tell-all best-sellers written in a prison cell.

Ken Lay is one of the people personally responsible for the fact that some of Enron's employees lost the money they were saving for their childrens' college education, etc.

But because he has friends in such high places, he probably won't serve a day in jail.

I'm no big fan of Martha Stewart, but the fact that she has served time in jail, and Ken Lay hasn't, should raise a red flag for everyone.
